I have reasons to agree with those of the same opinion and conviction that Christianity is not a religion. However, I also recognize that some people, even many of them, have made a religion out of Christianity. Still, this does not come close to the truth of making Christianity a religion. Christianity is NOT a religion.
The word 'religion' is an English form of Latin 'religio' which means 'to tie or to fasten'. It was observed that men were or are bound and tied in rituals, sets of rules and in repetitions of rites in reverence to their different gods. Greek word used here is 'relegere' which forms English word 'religion'. Christianity is not a religion.
Christ our LORD did not come to bind or tie us.To the contrary, Christ came to set us free (John 8:32) from the power and enslavement of religion. He came to take us out of prison and to take away the shackles and chains of worthless religions (Jas. 1:26-27). That is how the Bible often refers to religion because Christianity is not a religion.
Christianity is formed around both the life (personality) and teaching of Jesus Christ. It is about the reality of Christ, not just a belief in His doctrine or teaching. In religion you can take away its founder and you still remain with it. You cannot take away Christ and remain with Christianitt or else, it is just a religion.
Christianity is not a Religion
Christianity is union of life and teaching of Christ in me.
Christianity is Chrit-in-you-nity.
Christianity is the manifestation of Christ in Me.
