Jesus told the adulterous woman to go and sin no more. He did not condemn her, but he did tell her to stop with her sinful actions. Yet, Jesus did tell a soldier that he had more faith than anyone he had ever seen, and praised him for it. I don't see Jesus praising an unrighteous person.

Oh my word I seriously think there are alot of schizophrenic people on CC, and I don't say that to be hateful but out of concern.

True. Yet Jesus even said that the publicans and the harlots were going to go into heaven before the Pharisees. Some of the prostitutes that Jesus talked to probably had a great amount of faith. I think He would have praised them too. Yet, I'm not so certain if He would have called them out on their occupation. If you take care of giving them the Gospel, the rest can, many times, sort itself out.

Your concerns are obviously sincere. I admire that. I have a high respect for our military and veterans. I have an even larger respect for a soldier who looks toward the word to make sure he is making righteous decisions.

Again, read the context. It was because of their disbelief and sin that they were attacked. And none of this changes the promise given them before they entered the Promised Land when they refused to enter by faith, thus sealing their doom (40 years in the wilderness till all who had seen the miracles had died).

Christians who want to defend war based on the OT [are you going to promote the herem [killing all living] that was commanded then, for today?] don't read their Bible with care.

And many wars that have happened were initiated due to ungodly principles. Just like wars in the OT.

MAny do not have God. If they did wars would be rare. This is common knowledge.
And I am not defending war. War is never good. Losing a life is never good. As I stated before and NO ONE has answered... where in the scriptures does it say to surrender your family and loved ones in the event of a deadly attack?


What is really sad is all this talk about how all soldiers do is kill. Yes, they kill. They also put their lives on the line to protect others. They willingly give their lives to save others. Yet no one mentions that.


John 15:13 Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one's life for one's friends.
 
I cant really say yes or no but I know a guy from church that joined the army and walking one day the Holy Spirit said to him stand still and he did then God guide him, there were mines on the ground I not sure what the end of the story was but he did minister to others there and he came back a new man so whether its right or wrong I don't know but God was there with him

Amen, and no one should question that God was with him. But that is not the issue of this thread's title.

That is not the issue of this thread's title, and I do mention it in my book on Christian pacifism. There are the citizens of the world with all the nations (most grouped under a single authority unaware by most of the citizenry) and then there are the citizens of the Kingdom of God. Showing kindness to strangers by being willing to put your life at risk for them to protect them by using force is in accordance with the citizenry of God’s Kingdom. Believing the lies of evil men and murdering people for an unrighteous cause is not in accordance to the citizenry of the Kingdom of God. The governments of this world, especially the richest and most powerful, are the most evil to have ever existed. May God have mercy on those who blindly follow their dictates.

Not issue if the threads title? It's just as much part if the title as the constant talking about killing. If you want to properly discuss the military then all sides need to be discussed. Not just the side to fit your own ideas. The fact you seem to be a Spurgeon follower and spend more time talking about his viewpoints is a huge red flag to me.

Are you advertising your commercial book here on CC as I don't think it's the issue of this thread's title?
I went from Christian to US Naval Christian back to Christian and if they call me to serve again I'm certainly on my way. And so is the Spirit of God along with me.

I think that if I did not directly work to put fighter jets into the air, I might have a bit more of a struggle with leaving the military. Since I do, I can't see any of the good that comes out of it. I realize there might be some legitimate good. But most of what appears to be good in our wars seems like it is not far away from the propaganda used in third world dictatorships. This puts me at unease. Every time I repair a part I have to think of the consequences that my repair action is making....of who I am serving/helping and who I am endangering/killing.

I don't think medics have to think of such questions.
 
it's an odd question but i thought i would ask,that is we are only addressing the o.p. from the view of the "united states military". so lets say a man is a christian and lives in Iraq,Afghanistan,Iran, Syria,Russia,china ect. and one of those nations or all of them go to war with the united states. so should a "christian" who is in Russia join the army and shoot at an American solider,would the Russian christian have god's blessing?

Thats a good point you have there. I would like to know if advertising his book was authorized by CC administrators.

Good question, and what about a military draft(like Vietnam)? You can't just say "no".
 
yes i think it should be seen both ways,,,,there is a foxhole full of Germans praying to Jesus to save them and a foxhole full of Russians praying to Jesus to save them and the whole while they are peeping over the top of the foxhole at each other,whats gods position on the matter,,,

I don't believe so and that is why he uses the word "free" in his subtle statement to sucker someone into ordering and buying.
I was mainly disappointed because a couple times he posted it's not the issue of this threads title and the posts that he responded to were exactly the issue of it.

theirs probably a better book i have anyway,,i didn't write it holy men did,Jesus bought it for me with his blood,,,
