1 Corinthians 5

1 It is reported commonly that there is fornication among you, and such fornication as is not so much as named among the Gentiles, that one should have his father's wife.

2 And ye are puffed up, and have not rather mourned, that he that hath done this deed might be taken away from among you.

3 For I verily, as absent in body, but present in spirit, have judged already, as though I were present, concerning him that hath so done this deed, note

4 In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, when ye are gathered together, and my spirit, with the power of our Lord Jesus Christ,

5 To deliver such an one unto Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that the spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus.

6 Your glorying is not good. Know ye not that a little leaven leaveneth the whole lump?

7 Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us: note

8 Therefore let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, neither with the leaven of malice and wickedness; but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth. note

9 I wrote unto you in an epistle not to company with fornicators:

10 Yet not altogether with the fornicators of this world, or with the covetous, or extortioners, or with idolaters; for then must ye needs go out of the world.

11 But now I have written unto you not to keep company, if any man that is called a brother be a fornicator, or covetous, or an idolater, or a railer, or a drunkard, or an extortioner; with such an one no not to eat.

12 For what have I to do to judge them also that are without? do not ye judge them that are within?

13 But them that are without God judgeth. Therefore put away from among yourselves that wicked person.

This chapter speaks clearly of a pure church that is in trouble and is given a directive in conduct and action of correction it talks about cleaning house and doing away of fake Christians a separation unto holiness .it brings to remembrance in exodus how the Israelites killed the ones that had worshipped the golden calves and other situations , God speaks clearly of a pure church .
 
I agree with MarcR.. just what exactly is the point of this thread? Other than telling us about fornicators..
 
Not many take heed and believe in God's power of healing I myself have experienced it but others need to also many having the tools and no understanding of how to use them this is the situation the church is in so sad to see this we are not just another religion amongst religions , we are of the kingdom of heaven a kingdom with power not just words and Holy Ghost but power , word plus obedience and Holy Ghost equates power

It speaks more than justfornicators it covers every category like idolatry violence that works through envy murmuring is an initiator of violence that less to murder Lots of crimes are covered in this chapter in few words
 
So if no one gets this thread then this is the fulfillment of Isaiah when he speaks of a gropping . I'm off to church God bless
 
Deu 28:29 And thou shalt grope at noonday, as the blind gropeth in darkness, and thou shalt not prosper in thy ways: and thou shalt be only oppressed and spoiled evermore, and no man shall save thee.

The chapter deals with church discipline of members living in open sin; for the purpose of bringing them back to Godly living.
It is not about purging.

Mt 13:24-30
24 Another parable put he forth unto them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is likened unto a man which sowed good seed in his field:
25 But while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went his way.
26 But when the blade was sprung up, and brought forth fruit, then appeared the tares also.
27 So the servants of the householder came and said unto him, Sir, didst not thou sow good seed in thy field? from whence then hath it tares?
28 He said unto them, An enemy hath done this. The servants said unto him, Wilt thou then that we go and gather them up?
29 But he said, Nay; lest while ye gather up the tares, ye root up also the wheat with them.
30 Let both grow together until the harvest: and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather ye together first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into my barn.
KJV


The passage cited above speaks against purging.

The problem lies with the church being led to believe in the false doctrine that Exodus 20 through 23 is not supposed to be seen as truth any longer because all it can do is condemn us. The true church understands these things as teaching without condemnation. The false church doesn't. That's the point of this thread I think.
 
It does not but the apostle Paul enforces judgement within the church in Titus it speaks of open rebuke but today's church has no focus on holiness or proper conduct only an open rebellious would disagree on these matters but this is not based on asumptions but on open crimes that are known but I'll let you know that the Holy Ghost reveals hidden crime for God is not mocked and lady read your scriptures and understand the word grope , grope is what people do when they cannot see they feel around even crawl on the floor

Yes open sins indeed and speaks of separation of open faced sinners that others may get a clear view of proper and improper conduct if not the church will just run a muck we must be found faithful as Stewart's in God's House

The proper influence from a proper witness from the church has been diminished by not expressing what really works concerning every day life in Christ. We have succumbed to the false narrative of "separation of church and state" waiting for the rapture that is suppose to happen before the hammer falls which also contributes to apathy. We have been taught that what we classify as old, even though those words came from the eternal God of today, should be avoided because it conflicts with the new that somehow MUST be a different agenda. We are in a great "falling away."

"Thou shalt not hate thy brother in thine heart: thou shalt in any wise rebuke thy neighbour, and not suffer sin upon him.Thou shalt not avenge, nor bear any grudge against the children of thy people, but thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself: I am the Lord. Leviticus 19:17-18

its like the mindset of the Word of God must comform to their reality , but our reality is not God's reality but rather that " we must submit to the Word of God

1 Corinthians 3:1-2

"For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again which be the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat." Hebrews 5:12

Just for camaraderies sake. I am a retired machinist, once involved with water purification for the first seawolf sub. We have something in common in addition to believing in Christ.
