‘Come Just As You Are’

Romans 12:2a​
“Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world,
but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think.”

Beauty-what does that word mean to you? As women, we have been told all our lives that beauty is an extremely important thing. (This can also apply to men). But what is beauty? Is beauty the way you style your hair? Is it your facial features, wearing designer clothes, or having a thin body frame? The world is constantly telling us that we are nothing if we do not fit into their standard of what “beautiful” is. Well, let me tell you, God has a much different view of what beauty is.
From God’s binoculars, beauty comes from a heart that is set completely on seeking Him. King David for doing this was called “the man after God’s own Heart.” Wow what a great title to have! He sat and read the scriptures all day and wrote most of the Psalms that are in the Bible.
1 Samuel 16:7b “…The LORD does not look at the things man looks at. Man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart."
All your life you have tried to fit in, to be “noticed”, or to feel like you “belong”. So you strive and toil very hard to do just what the world wants-you buy all the “right” clothes, you have those gorgeous pair of shoes that everyone’s eyes fall to, a nice home, beautiful things, and you make sure you put on your makeup just right every day. After all this effort, the world will still reject you at the drop of a hat! They cast you
off for something better coming just around the corner. So where does that leave you? Well, most probably it will leave you broken, feeling worthless, depressed and confused. God will NEVER do this to you!! He accepts you, He loves you, and values you just the way you are-imperfections and all. No strings attached.
Now, let me clarify something, does this mean that as a Christian, you have to look bad, never wear makeup, and not have nice things? No, it does not. These things in and of themselves are not bad. They are neither good nor bad but, whatever value you place on them, makes them what they are. If you value those things and your “identity” more than God, that’s when it becomes a problem. Identity in God is SO much easier to attain!
When you have been loved by the Creator, and He by you, a wonderful thing happens: you desire to change your life, to be a better person, to please Him, and, little by little, He helps you to let go of all the things and worthless junk that have been instilled into your mind since you were a child. God’s value of a person has nothing to do with physical features, it has nothing to do with the things you have, or your plans for accomplishment in life, and it certainly has nothing to do with the clothes you wear or the car you drive for that matter. It has to do with His goodness, and just loving you. Period.
However, when you are a follower of Christ, you become valuable to God and all your value, worthiness, beauty, esteem, need for love and confidence come from a living, thriving, and secure relationship with your Creator in the Person of Christ. It is quite a liberating experience once you devote yourself wholly to pleasing God; to realize that you don’t have be perfect, that you don’t need to be someone you’re not. Pour yourself into loving God with all your heart, mind soul and strength. You will never regret it and God will never stop loving you, even when you think you’ve been “bad”! “I will never leave you nor forsake you”
Luke 5:12-13​
“…a man who was full of leprosy saw Jesus; and he fell on his face and begged Him, saying, "Lord, if You are willing, You can make me clean." 13 Then He (Jesus) put out His hand and touched him, saying,” Jesus said, “I am willing; be cleansed.”

Amen sis very nice! (Colossians 3:1-4) verse 2! SET your mind! All that which is covered in darkness needs the Light of Jesus to shine upon it. For in his light can we in him stay free through him! ( matt 5:14-16)

Before a city can have light in it,the light must be brought to the city. The Word of God which abides in us, is the light the city needs to rejoice in. For those who bear his light can see,and those who dwell around us can also. It is only a parable to those who have not his light,but for those of us who abide in his light,also abides in his very truth!( john 8:36)Thanks for the reminder sis!
 
I TOTALLY agree that our inward beauty should be the "bit" that is shining. There are many beautiful, skin perfect, slim figured women who are dead behind the eyes. However, God made women to be RADIANT, that is part of His image we are made in, one of His characteristics women posses. This is why women will spend much more time and money compared to men looking/buying/applying skin products, beauty thearapy, clothes, hair, make up . It is INBUILT in women to want to look radiant and many women are driven to extremes if they dont understand that it STARTS with inner beauty and then FOLLOWS with natural beauty (God made us mind body soul...we do not neglect any but make sure the spirit comes first). Scripture warns us about not putting that physical beauty first, although many take that one to the extreme sayng women shouldnt wear make up or dress up to get attention thus ROBBING a women of her radiance. When a woman walks into a crowded room she SHOULD stun the room into silence, not by tarty clothes but with a radiance and beauty from inward and outward. She should feel pretty, beautiful...not in an arrogant way but in an acceptance of who God made her to be. If women understood this then they would stop picking fault with their self image, dress over the top, apply too much make up etc.....they would find that balance and walk in radiance.
 
AMEN!!! well said Twofeet. That is a wonderful compliment to what I was pointing out-That we are to be as the book of Proverbs ''a woman who fears the Lord'', who shall be ''praised''. When we seek God with all of our heart, soul, mind and strength, and love our neighbor as ourselves, then the physical part will agree with it. Yes we are to take care of ourselves! Just as you said, body, mind and soul, and we are not to ''copy the customs and behaviors of the world.'' :)
