Ran out of time for first post--
I just wanted to compare this well-known true story movie, "Memphis Belle," with spiritual warfare. the video scene I found shows the final bombing run (on a deadly factory, not people). Previously, the movie told how the plane had gone through unimaginable defensive fire, which in those days included the enemy firing "flack" up into the sky which was exploding shrapnel meant to tear apart the planes. When the target was covered by clouds, the crew was glad, thinking they could return home. From what I remember from the dialog, the captain began to turn the plane around to make another run directly into and through the deadly, explosive gauntlet they had just survived. I think a crew member said, "he can't be serious," and the captain replied, "we came here to bomb a factory; if we don't do it, someone else will have to return and risk their lives." (paraphrase from memory, not actual quotes; Movie: "Memphis Belle," ; Director: Michael Caton-Jones; Warner Bros. 1990.).
"He can't be serious." (About making another run through the deadly gauntlet)
"We came here to bomb a factory..."
This was the final 25th mission for the plane and crew.
Spiritual warfare, and life in general in this amazing world, is about the same, unseen combat, but very real. Jesus never raised a sword, but was, and is the greatest spiritual warrior to ever live. As Christians, we are called to the same fearless courage, facing spiritual enemies, and people controlled or influenced by them, knowing that if what we are doing is supported by God, we will survive safely, knowing we are protected by all power and authority of Heaven and earth.
"And be not afraid of them that kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell." (Matthew 10:28; ASV; biblestudytools.com); (meaning to revere only God who has authority and power above all).
