Concerned teen daughter's sexuality

A lot of teens go through a phase where they just really want to be different, unique. It's sometimes an anti-social thing, but I highly doubt that if she was gay that she would actually dress the part. I think most young women who are gay don't try to do anything to let on about their sexual orientation.... unless they are outright gay activist types, then you will know without uncertain terms.. It's most likely just an "I want to be different" phase that she will grow out of and then laugh at later in life.

Ok so I said I was scared. I am scared because I think I didn't protect her. Was she raped or molested? Because I 7think when a woman dresses like a man she doesn't want men looking at her because typically they were molested.

Or could this be something from the war on genders these days

Regardless, I love her anyway

I would be furious if my daughter dressed like that or had lesbian friends, and I would make her change immediately. i don't need to worry because the very thought of being confused for a boy would devastate her to the core. I know because one time she wore a Red Wings t-shirt and had her hair in her hat, and a lady behind her referred to her as a boy, and she complained about it the whole way home. My daughter goes on Pinterest all the time saving pins of dresses, natural makeup, and girly things.

Women are not to wear things that pertain to a man, and men are not to wear things that pertain to a woman, says the bible (says God).

Fifteen. I would make her change immediately if she was 45. No daughter of mine is going to dress like a man.

That wasn't the point at all.. It was simply that girls go through phases when trying to find themselves, whereby dressing in masculine cloths and wearing combat boots doesn't necessarily equate to lesbian. Odds are, a 15 year old will grow out it, just as Madonna ain't a tomboy anymore;

Really? Gee I wonder what Jesus would say about me wearing men's sweats and tee shirts, simply for the fact that they're more comfy than women's sweats and shirts.. lol

If we try to find ourseves we will find sin. We are supposed to seek to be like Christ. It is a sin for a female to wear male clothes and for a male to wear female clothes.

No your making your daughter a robot and take her free will and break her. That will cause way worse rebellion and a hardened heart than letting her go through a small phase where she will face palm herself afterwards.
What made you so legalistic? Why are you so extreme about this specific thing
 
I see a lot of opinions here, some I agree with some I don't. But that is just it" opinions" I personally don't think GOD cares what we wear, its what is in our heart. I agree that a man should be a man and a women be a women. I think we are missing the point here. I pray for this girl and her salvation. If she has truly accepted Jesus as her savior and has a relationship with him. its not important what she wears. pray for salvation. I pray for her mother, to trust GOD. to be a example for her. to gently lead her to Christ. WE that have children this age can have sympathy for her. Telling her what will work or wont work is good. but she knows her daughter best. I pray for your patience and hope you can be there when your daughter needs to fall back on you.

Be patient and as other have said in the thread phases girls go trough, but also if she was to turn out a real lesbian remember your faith, forgiving and acceptance. Being judgemental won't help either of you.

someday your answer can inspire the end of many unnecessary threads

um, anyway, why is legalism sin? is it because it reduce our trust in the grace of Jesus? that legalism limits our ability to see that God's grace is enough

My daughter is 15 and has a mind of her own- which i encourage. But at the same time, I have made it clear that until she is an adult, and my words become advice instead of rules, i will raise her in the way she should go, and according to God, during that time she is to obey her parent in the Lord.

But she tells me her opinion, and if she will do things differently with her daughter, and 99 times out of 100 her opinion is that she agrees with me. In her free time she watches youtube videos of how feminism has gone too far, then comes and tells me about it- I don't make her do that, she does that from her own mind and freewill.

If she did not agree with wearing feminine clothes, I'd still make her, but she does agree, quite strongly. She may have to obey my rules whether she likes them or not, but she is entitled to her own thoughts and opinions, and is definitely not a robot. (Funny you say that cause she is sooooooo against robots, whereas I am not).
