Or...I want to go to Wash, D.C. I take a wrong turn and wind up in Virginia, across the river. I have come short of my intended destination...
hmmm...a man throws a ball toward third base. It doesn't reach the intended base. He has come short of his goal.

Okay then, here it is honestly, what I think, since you want me to be honest.
It more describes you than it describes Peter is what I think.
I see Peters heart for our Lord.
And I see his heart begin to soften towards us because of his desire to move toward love and mercy and grace.
And when this softening of his heart longs toward walking in love with us and not demanding perfection of any one of us but believing God will accomplish His teaching in every one of us by the Holy Spirit He has given us, you come and shore him up, approving of his demand for perfect doctrine over love and mercy and grace. You encourage him the wrong way and lead him away from love and forgiveness.
So that is what I honestly think of Peter and where he is being led by the Spirit and what I think hinders him.
OK I knew that was what you were going to say. Here's what I have to say. You have your job, I have mine. Don't try to tell me how to do my job, and I won't tell you how to do yours. I'm not expecting perfection from anyone. I seek a perfect understanding of doctrine for myself. If someone has a problem with that, that's their problem.
Also, I don't think you have the slightest idea what Peter's about. I strongly sense the projection of your own misunderstanding of him onto him.
I need some maids.
In both of these instances, something or someone has not gone far enough...
He is saying in the verse to be careful no one comes short of the grace(kindness, mercy, forgiveness) of God.
To come short of it means we have not moved far enough in the direction we were headed.
What would bewitch us away from that destination we began toward?
Could it be by trying to finish in the flesh what was begun in the Spirit...?
do you really?
idk if we're geographically close, but my daughters and i would be honored to assist![]()
That is incorrect.
as long as your not talking about salvation, Yes, Salvation is a completed work.. Sanctification, or growing in christ is not.
That is incorrect.
We have the hope of salvation. It isn't obtained until we die.
You really should study topics more before you post on them, friend.
2 Timothy 2:10 "Therefore I endure all things for the elect's sakes, that they may also obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory."
If the elect hasn't obtained it yet, neither have you or anyone else. Salvation is eternal life. No one living on planet earth has eternal life, only hope for it, the promise of it if we overcome.
Grace is resting completely on the finished work of Christ for us. It is relying totally on Him. The Greek word "short" mean "to lack". and " to be inferior "....when we rely on ourselves we will lack ( fall short) of the grace of God.
