A common pattern among confusion-sowing teachers is this: they sprinkle truth, then insert division through over-literal dispensational slicing.

  1. They begin by “sprinkling truth.”
These teachers often start with solid, recognizable doctrine — quoting Scripture, referencing Greek words, or affirming salvation by grace. This wins trust and makes their teaching sound scholarly and spiritual.
  2. Then comes the division.
Once trust is gained, subtle shifts begin. They introduce ideas that fracture biblical unity — for instance, claiming there are “two gospels,” one for Israel and another for the Church, or that salvation once came by works but now by faith alone. These divisions sound deep, but they distort the plain teaching that there is one gospel revealed through Jesus Christ (Galatians 1:6–9; Ephesians 4:4–5).
  3. The method: over-literal dispensational slicing.
Dispensational truths — like the distinction between Israel and the Church — are real, but when pushed too far they can be turned into separate “paths” of salvation. Scripture never teaches multiple ways of being saved. From Genesis to Revelation, salvation has always been by grace through faith in God’s provision.
  4. The result: confusion and fragmentation.
What begins as careful Bible study can end in spiritual division if we let intellectual pride or “secret knowledge” overshadow the simplicity of Christ. Paul warned of this when he wrote, “I fear, lest… your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.” (2 Corinthians 11:3 KJV)
  5. The safeguard: stay anchored in the unity of the gospel.
There is one Lord, one faith, one baptism (Ephesians 4:5). The true gospel never pits Peter against Paul or grace against obedience — it proclaims that all are saved through faith in Christ’s finished work, not through works or differing systems.

1 Corinthians 14:33 (KJV):
“For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints.”

Another common technique unscrupulous men use to sow confusion and falsehood is to cast doubt on something that is explicitly stated in scripture and use other less explicitly stated verses to form an alternate truth that opposes and undermines the explicitly stated scripture. Instead of conforming the less explicit verses to the explicit verse, they do the opposite, and as a result turn truth on its head.
