CONSECRATED, Not Often Spoken Here

We all know what "consecrated" is I believe, but we don't often use the term here that I am aware of.

DEFINITION:

verb (used with object), consecrated, consecrating.1.to make or declare sacred; set apart or dedicate to the service of adeity:to consecrate a new church building.


2.to make (something) an object of honor or veneration; hallow:a custom consecrated by time.


3.to devote or dedicate to some purpose:a life consecrated to science.


4.to admit or ordain to a sacred office, especially to the episcopate.

5.to change (bread and wine) into the Eucharist.

There are many terms that describe "consecrated" in scriptures....like belonging to the Lord...being one with Him...there are at least 80 some scriptures in Paul's letters alone that talk about who we are in Christ now.

If we get a revelation of the finished work of Christ in our lives - this will change our perspective a lot and we would walk out who we are in Him...in our new creation in Christ. His life living in and through us changes everything as we get our mind renewed to the truth of Christ in us..the hope of glory!

True consecration is not emphasized and taught in many (most?) churches because their doctrines compel them to habitually make excuses for sin. Emphasis is on ritual, evangelism, church growth, revival, blah, blah, blah.. so that they don't have to do the hard work of removing sin from their lives. If they focused on spiritual sanctification and purity of heart, growth and revival would happen of itself. Instead they mix the holy with the unholy, and the holy departs.

It's a word not often used anymore because it is the hallmark of religion, and its fixation on religious activities in order to please God. When the truth is that it is primarily for the good of the religious authorities and not God.

I'm not saying there is anything wrong with its proper use, but only with its improper use as an explanation of the absolute necessity to be engaged in religious activities in order to please God.

I think because the early church experienced the miracles that they had a greater conscience to follow Jesus.
There is no other reason that you could give me because the mixed multitude saw all the miracles under Moses in the Old Testament and only Joshua and Caleb were allowed to enter the promised land. The children of the parents were allowed to enter in but the ones that saw the miracles were not allowed in.

Consecrated means to make holy, sacred, purify, cleansed, baptized and unblemished. They normally had used water to consecrated themselves, but that had only clean the body, but not the soul.

a. Aaron and his sons: This was not a ceremony for just anyone in Israel. There were special consecration ceremonies available to anyone - such as the Nazirite vow in Numbers 6. But this ceremony was for priests, for Aaron and his sons.

b. And washed them with water: The process of consecration began with cleansing. All priestly ministries began with cleansing, and a cleansing that was received: you shall wash them. Aaron and his sons did not wash themselves; they received a washing.

Consecration is an internal matter. Today many try to make it external and it comes off as phony. Sanctification and consecration are part of our walk with Christ. Our position in Christ makes us bot sanctified and consecrated in Christ in the heavenly place but we must make our life here reflect what we have already in Christ.

Saved by grace to live apart from the world and together with Christ.

Nor do most "christians" do it as required. God intends for us to consecrate our lives to Him. He gave us life and asks that in return we devote that life to Him. If we do so, our reward is beyond imagination. I wonder how many folks here would be recognized as being christian out in the world if they couldn't speak. If one must tell someone they are christian for it to be known, they certainly aren't consecrated to God, and they may not be christian at all.
