Momdog, my son got in trouble with the police. And my husband at the time was a magistrate judge. And I worked at the Christian school here. Oh how difficult it was.
I cringed having to go to the grocery store because I might meet people who knew what happened. It was summertime so I didn't have to deal with work right then. The local newspaper had an article about it and it wasn't flattering. They even printed our address. Ugh!
But you know what? God used that experience in my life to come down from my high horse. My pride was shot to pieces and it was a good thing.
It was very beneficial because I now had a heart for those who get into trouble with the law. Not that I didn't already, but I understood what they go through experientially and it gave me a deeper appreciation of the pain and hurt it causes when another member of the family breaks the law.
It took me a while, but I began to not worry about what others were saying. If people want to judge us wrongly it's okay because God knows the situation and holds our hand through it all.
He's right there with you and helping you through this trial as well. He loves you and that's all that matters. If God be for us, who can be against us.
Romans 8
If God is for us, who can be against us?
32 He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things?
33 Who will bring any charge against those whom God has chosen? It is God who justifies.
34 Who then is the one who condemns? No one. Christ Jesus who died—more than that, who was raised to life—is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us.
35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword?
36 As it is written:
“For your sake we face death all day long;
we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered.”
37 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.
38 For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons,neither the present nor the future, nor any powers,
39 neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
You are more than a conqueror!
