First of all,believers can become convinced!!!!( Rom 8:38) And if you are, then this is not for you. For newbies who may not yet be convinced, but are still believing to become convinced, then this is for you! A favorite scripture among the O.S.A.S. community is this one ( Rom 11:29) Which is a fact!!
HOWEVER!!!! We know the Lord gives each the very same measure of faith.( rom 12:3) It is perfect,we could not ever work to receive this from our self! It is the same when you give someone a gift,you are giving this gift free of charge and not looking for payment of any kind!( Eph 2:4-10!!)
But now this gift becomes YOURS!!!!! When we open the salvation gift from our Jesus we find fruit in it!( Gal 5:22-23!!) Now watch!!( 2 peter 1:3-11!!) Here we clearly see that Jesus in this free gift has supplied everything which pertains to life and Godliness( 3) and that by his very promise we become partakers.PROVIDING!!!!! That this wonderful free gift which is now ours through our Jesus bear the fruit it is suppose to!!! ( verse 5 YOUR FAITH!)
Verse 6 YOUR KNOWLEDGE, YOUR SELF CONTROL, etc... Jesus gave this gift free,but now it is yours to do with as YOU please! Be that good or bad! And by the choice each of us makes, we either mature and grow,or with some can even fall away from the saving faith! hence why we examine ourself daily!!( 2 Cor 13:5)
Example, a person become a believer in a Baptist Church,since the Baptist church or the Luthern Church or the Methodist church believes is the same foundation of the word, which is Jesus is God, born of a virgin,his blood cleans us from all sin,the basics, this is saving faith!
You receive this free gift with great joy, as we should! Then one day someone invites you to a Joel Osteen meeting where not only does he believe the same but he goes even further!!
He believes any faith can save,does not matter if one is gay,does not matter if one does not hold to Jesus as the only Savior! He believes Jesus shares his Glory with others,that you now are a little God having power through your mindset to achieve any goal your heart is set upon!( the Norman Vincient Peal doctrine.
This teaching is exactly what is talked about in 1 Tim 4:1-5!!) And if you fall for this garbage then you become a partaker of the same lie he is preaching.There are others!! In fact many!
And you will then fall away as they did! For this is not talking at all about non believers, for how can a believer fall if they first have not had a saving faith to begin with! Some will say,well these people never really believed.Show me where it says this here?? It doesn't!
Jesus used a fine parable to further help us understand.( Matt 13:19-23) Look close at verse 21!! If a person becomes deceived by another doctrine,then they can indeed fall away! ( Gal 1:6-10!!) Being convinced as many are, requires something from us! Please look at verse 23, and at John 15:1-8!!!!) verse 4-7 IF YOU ABIDE!!!
In the true saving faith! You have to bear fruit of this! ( matt 13:23!!!) He or she bears fruit! You mature and grow,you understand what grace truly is!!( Titus 2:11-12!!!) grace instructs! Grace grows from Jesus love which abides in us!!( 2 Peter 3:18!!)
All believers at the beginning have problems, I sure did,I was here for some time myself!!( Mark 9:23-24) but as we stay in the Word,and stay instructed by HIS Word,our belief ( John 6:28-29) grows into now becoming convinced!!
And that brothers and sister is where believing is to take us! It can take us there!! We must renew our mindset, and put a new tape in it!!( rom 12:2) It takes discipline!!( 1 Cor 9:23-27!!) Which locks right into ( 2 Cor 10:4-7!!)
