Here it is in a nut shell....my christian wife, puched me and hit me several times, tried to run me over, spit on me, cursed me out in front of the children, cheated on me and i forgave her, destroyed my property severals times and a bunch of ter hngs i mention. recently after a violent outburst i had to calll the pelice. she left again lied to child srvices to protect herself and now wont speak and we attend the same church. if i divorce her am i a covenant breaker?

she sounds like shes not a Christian and just a false professor. That you're unaware of this is equally shocking. Are you just wishing she is saved?

Well, we all know if the roles were reversed everyone would see this as abuse, physical, verbal and mental. As the man on the receiving end people tend to not be so quick to label it abuse, but make no mistake, you are in an abusive relationship. I'll treat your situation the same as i would if talking to a woman in your position. And that is to GET AWAY. Get this nut job out of your life, and the sooner the better.

You're not likely to get a direct answer. You'll get a split, some will say leave, others will say you have no right. Personally, i think attempted murder is a good reason to divorce, though.

Sir, I don't care if you are a covenant breaker or not if you divorce her. For the sake of you and your children, you need to leave immediately. Since she has involved CPS, make sure they are aware of the police reports that show her violent tendencies. It's possible that CPS will take the children away from both of you for the time being, while they try and figure out what is going on. But, if she is doing this to you, she could do much worse to both you and your children. Also, make sure you have a restraining order against her, and that your neighbors are well aware of it. Document everything that is said, and if she calls you, make sure you have tapes of everything. Both you and your children's lives could depend on your actions.

Pray and seek guidance from Yahvah God and Yahshua the Messiah.

Remain honest and open.

Peace and Blessings in the name of Yahvah God and Yahshua the Messiah.

It seems she has already broken the covenant...I agree that if the gender roles were reversed we'd all be in an uproar, for which I am sincerely sorry!

My POV is that it's harmful to your children to see their daddy treated this way. How are they to look up to you as head of the family before God with your wife treating you this way? Provided you have taken what steps you can to correct things (forgiveness, counseling, if she's even willing) and time goes by (has gone by) and you see no will in her to change, I believe the Lord will understand divorce.
Meanwhile--please do stay away from her. If this means going to a different church for a while, so be it. You deserve to feel safe in your own home (and elsewhere!), and your kiddos need a life uninterrupted by such violent things. I'm so sorry for what you're all suffering, brother. I feel bad for your wife, too, when one day she comes to her senses and realizes what she's lost. :(

Do, DO document everything. Speak to an attoney for advice here. Approach all things in prayer, but don't let misplaced guilt lead you.(conviction, not condemnation, right?) I will certainly be in prayer for you all. May the Lord guide and keep you and your precious children. ♥

hi, I wanted to respond but I needed some time to clear my mind. I agree with what the others have said.

- if she abuses you she is not following Gods word¨
- Besides, the Bible says you can divorce if the other person is unfaithful:

But I tell you that anyone who divorces his wife, except for sexual immorality, makes her the victim of adultery.
So divorce is not seen as a good thing, however, in some situations, it is the best choice, as we humans do such things to each other.

That being said, it is good that you wish to make sure you are not doing something wrong. May God guide your heart and actions and turn the situation into the best solution possible.

The adultery part is only of she marries again.

sorry, I wasn't speciific enough, I was only using it to point out that one can divore in the case of unfaithfulness

He did say that she cheated on him. That's being sexually immoral. He did forgive her. But don't you think he still has the right to divorce her over sexual immorality? I don't think he's breaking the Covenant doing that.

if you guys bothered to read what I was writing you would see that I AM saying he DOES have the right to divorce.

Brother on the grounds of her unfaithfulness, I believe that you do indeed have the right to divorce. My understanding is that there are only two grounds on which you can divorce. One is if your partner commits adultery and the other is if your partner is an unbeliever and leaves you.

He said to them, “Moses, because of the hardness of your hearts, permitted you to divorce your wives, but from the beginning it was not so. 9 And I say to you, whoever divorces his wife, except for sexual immorality,[d] and marries another, commits adultery; and whoever marries her who is divorced commits adultery.” Matt 19:8

"But if the unbeliever departs, let him depart; a brother or a sister is not under bondage in such cases. But God has called us to peace". 1Cor 7:15

These I believe are the only two reasons for divorce, but I am no deep Bible scholar so please correct me if I am wrong.

My understanding is that once divorced the only time one can re-marry is if the marriage broke down due to adultery and then it is only the party who has been 'sinned against' that can do so.

Brother what ever we may say or what ever understanding opinion is expressed, you and your children are in danger and measures must be taken to ensure your safety. I am sorry Brother that this has happened and praying for Gods protection over you and your children. I pray that he will give you great peace through this time and that justice will truly be done. I pray that the truth will be revealed and that lies will be uncovered and I pray that very soon your children will be restored to you. May the Lord truly reveal His right arm in this situation. May He be your protector, provider, deliverer and may He also replace the anger in your wife with a spirit of peace, gentleness and submission. Amen.
God bless you Brother.

Actually, from what I've been taught, and from what I've read in the Bible, if he forgives her for adultery or sexual immorality (does not specify adultery) and stays with her, then he does not have the right to divorce. But if she commits the same sin or similar sin again, then he may leave if he chooses.

Also, if she is an unbeliever, and leaves, then he is no longer bound to his vows. That is mentioned in the second part of 1 Cor 7:15 that was quoted above.

However, there is also a time when someone has to use judgement as well. When one's life or the life of his/her children are in danger, then that person needs to take steps to protect themselves. In this case, I personally believe that he just needs to divorce her, because she will probably never change. In some cases separation with marriage counseling can help. But that's only if the one who's committing the abuse wants to change and are willing to put in the effort.

If you divorce her, you are rightfully protecting yourself, your children's safety, and your property.

God is smarter than you think, do you honestly believe He would want you to persist this insanity?
Take care of your kids and yourself. She has done enough harm already.

she sounds like she is possessed, good grief. Run as fast and as far as you can I say. I think its what anyone would do. She sounds scary nuts.

Sane people do not physically attack, curse, spit, etc. without some kind of provocation. This post, much like the others, makes me wonder about the other side of the story.
