All winter long, you think of sitting in the lush garden🌻🌼🌷
and enjoying the backyard.
You tend flowers and shrubs.
You plant an array of veggies.
And when it's finally warm enough to sit outside...the irritating buzz of insects
invades your outdoor retreat, and you've noticed your 🌱 seedlings have been chewed upon.

While there's no such thing as a pest-free garden or yard,
experts say you can keep "uninvited guests" from your outdoor space
With a few easy steps.

Mosquitos
It's most critical to repel these disease- carrying insects.
Eliminating sources of standing water helps prevent them from reproducing.
Try planting citronella, marigolds or lavender which repel pesky biters

Caterpillars
Use a rotenone-pyrethrin spray on chewed-up plants
to prevent further chewing.
It sounds toxic, but this insecticide is derived from botanical sources
and is safe to use on common vegetables,
according to an associate professor of entomology at NCState.

Aphids
These bugs feed on leaves, causing curling and discoloration.
Spray plants with water during mid- morning and
avoid nitrogen fertilizers.

Wild Animals
To fend off nibbling animals, install a fence at least 4 ft. high.
Wrap trees with two-foot-wide "hardware" cloth.
To stop hungry racoons, keep your trash secure.

Good Luck!

We do the citronella and marigolds to ward off pests. Yes, flowers and shrubs and an array of veggies. :)

Yeah, I made of few of raised bed garden boxes. We have quite a garden. :)
That's great..we have too much shade for any good gardening..when we lived elsewhere hubby had a great garden..as he was "an olde farm boy"..nothing better than home-grown veggies...fresh from the garden..miss that.
Enjoy it all!😉
