I never bothered to go check out the Redwoods when there. Too busy drinking. Even some of those trees might be in danger if the drought keeps up. I was thinking about the Cedars mentioned with admiration in the Bible. Most of the references were to construction of the Temple that Solomon financed. The trees were shipped by Hiram for that and the palaces. It's interesting that they were mentioned so much. They must have been awesome.

Researchers have identified the environmental conditions that spark spillovers of a virus from bats to humans. Scientists can now predict probable spillovers of the deadly Hendra virus up to two years in advance — giving them the opportunity to intervene to prevent them. Drought, habitat loss and food stress are key drivers. When food is in short supply, bats shed more Hendra virus, and more horses — an intermediate host — get sick. The work “underscores the enhanced risk we are likely to see” with climate change and increasing habitat loss, says conservation biologist Alice Hughes.

It seems unbelievable. But in nature there are trees that are many thousands of years old so?? I was just reading commentaries on Isaiah 11:1 and accordingly Cedars once cut down will not send up any shoots but oak does. I am almost sure species of pine also survive thousands of years. BTW honey I use without limit & no problems. Also DNR in Illinois fences off certain areas so deer don't eat tree stump shoots. Maybe just small scale testing.

All of your talk about honey is influencing me. I'm drinking hot chamomile and ginko tea with honey to wash down an evening snack of popcorn drizzled with raw honey and shredded cheeses.

Surprising how well honey goes with cheese. I put jalapeno cheddar on crackers and top with peanut butter and honey. Which reminds me for some reason how Thai restaurants use peanut sauce on chicken on a stick. I think peanuts originated with Jimmy Carter, I mean America's and Thai's use is like a natural. And if you never tried tom-yum-goong, spicy shrimp soup it is incredible spice combo that beats Justin Wilsons recipes I bet. Though don't know what JW, how about that, JW does for maybe gumbo to compare?? If you don't know Thai food, caution on hot spice. The peppers they use seem hot as Habanero and I could only go about 6 on their 10 scale. I don't know how they figure that?

That was delicious. I rarely buy it, but something like subliminal advertising was happening while at the store. Lol.. It was the good stuff, but on sale for 2 bucks, praise the Lord.

I used to take my sweetheart to a Tai Restaurant in the Squirrel Hill district a stone's throw from Pittsburgh. That was my favorite ! It's a shame that I'm allergic to peanuts and chicken now. Good news is that I can use pork and substitute sunflower seed butter. It tastes just like peanut butter.
For hot peppers, I usually go with Habaneros. Those are THE best. It's safe as long as you remove the seeds like a Susi chef does on a Puffer Fish.

Can't stand Habanero flavor. Actually repulsive to me. Weird how taste buds differ. Never seen sunflower seed butter and bad now with Ukraine/Russia war sunflower is big business in Ukraine so may not see butter. Your peanut allergy potentially lethal?

It's nice that there's dozens of pepper varieties to choose from.

I did not know that Ukraine exported sunflower.

It's not lethal, peanut allergy that is. I just get acne like a teenager. The good thing is that you can make the butter yourself if you want. It tastes like peanut butter, but you'd never know it was sunflower seeds from the taste. I have a patch of gourmet Jerusalem Artichokes that are similar to sunflowers. The root tubers are eaten, but the flower heads are too. They don't produce the seeds like their cousin, but it's perfect for tai dishes and everything else. They have the crunchy texture of water chestnuts, but taste a lot better.
 
What wild animals would you like to raise for a pet in the new millennium kingdom?
I want to consider a cerepod. Perhaps a triceratops. Free range because I don't want to clean the barn every day.
