I don't know why I surprised the other day to learn squirrels make sounds, 'talk'...
I mean after all, my rabbits do 🤦‍♀️ guess I just never thought about it, even though I hear them making all sorts of noise in the backyard all the time. (Okay, after a while it gets hard to tell which creature is yapping out there)

SO, I was sitting on the back porch it was the same day as:
View attachment 291639 A little friend came to say "hi" this morning.
Okay, okay, he actually came 2-3x's looking for the food we usually put out, so finally I had to bring some out for him.
and after I provided food, the squirrels came over and did what they always do, stuffing their faces full.
And I start hearing almost a growling type of sound, then see a squirrel chasing a anotherone around and instead of fighting back the grey one was slowing down almost like it wanted to be caught. Well, it almost looked like the rabbits do when they are 'dancing' to mate. SO I thought that was what was going on.
But I kept hearing it, so I leaned over in my chair trying to look around the corner to where the food was and see if I could figure out who was making all the noise and ruckus.
I finally notice a squirrel a few feet away from me and started talking to him, then he would run off and a few minutes later I heard it again, looked and he was there. I started talking again and he would run off, and on this went for about a half hour.
I finally realized that with me being out there so close to the food he must perceive me as a threat because normally I'm not out there and I was sitting in a spot that is right where they run past after getting mouthfuls
SO I finally told him I'm no threat, I'm not going to hurt him, I'm not there to take the food. I said "Hey! I'm the bringer of that food! If anything you should be thanking me not barking at me."
Another growl, this time I slowly leaned forward and he ran off.

Lol!

He was talking to you!
Wild animals are so funny.
The opossum growls at me too sometimes when I startle her.
Ive learned that she does it too let me know where she is because she knows I can't see in the dark. She doesn't want me to accidentally kick her if she can't get out of my way when walking. Normally they freeze to not give away their position. She often knows better, so she growls real low and scary. 😂

Just curious, so I looked it up and listened to a couple recordings since he quit doing public appearances.

Richard Simmons was 76 years old at the time of his death on July 13, 2024.

Keith Richards is 83 years old as of July 12, 2026, having been born on December 18, 1943.

That's old for a guy who had a reputation for Keith Richards lifestyle.

Howard Sterns assistant was friends with him and said he fell and hit his head at home on his birthday. He died the next day.
