Speaking as an unaffiliated Biblical Academic who has not been in a church for over a year, any study of Scripture is self motivated or driven by God. Daniel 10:13 is fascinating to me. Some Scholars theorize that the Garden of Eden was either in Southern Iraq or South in the Persian Gulf. I'm thinking that Persia in that Scripture would correspond to modern day Iran. I don't know how much the boundaries have shifted from pre-WWII days. (Some think that the Oceans rose significantly after the beginning.)

As an aside note, Iran is mostly Shia Muslim, and Saudi Arabia is Sunni Muslim. Somehow, the Saudis deem themselves superior.

It feels significant that despite the world wide spread of humanity, I believe that most important Spiritual action occurs not that far from the Garden of Eden.

It's impossible to say. The topography of the world would have been much different after Noah's flood.

The Shia/Sunni dispute is historical and bloody. Both sides take the high ground. The Taliban are Sunni, which will be interesting when neighbouring Iran is Shia. Pakistan is mostly Sunni, hence their unofficial support for the Taliban over the last 20 years.

Apart from an entrenched desire to wipe out Israel, Iran wants nukes to balance Pakistan's arsenal. It's a mess.

It was really disillusioning to learn of the causation of the Sunni/Shia rift. In Islam I hoped that I had found the solution to the unkindness of the Christians I knew. As to the various views on Jesus the Christ, son or not, I will follow him when he comes. These days intensive study and prayer is all I have. I just started reading the Bible through again. Up to Gen. 4 now and plan to read a few chapters a day until I'm done. (KJV) I just bought The Books of Enoch just so I could see what the squabble is over. I don't have a lot of trust in Pastors. If I don't learn something, I do not have an excuse.

Perhaps after, I'll read the Yusuf Ali interpretation of the Quran again?

IMO The Garden of Eden is in Paradise, under the world we walk on. Like Abraham's bosom. Lazaus was in Paradise and rich man in torment seperated by a void. A good study would include Shoel and Hades, the temporary abode for the dead, both righteous and unrighteous.
