Hi @Lovette . Thanks for visiting and commenting. Let's check it out...

This day-year principle is bogus. In Daniel's prophecies, a day is literally a day, not a year.

You believe that the seventy-sevens are twenty-four hour periods?

1784722674109.png

2300 days in Dan. 8 is the time of Greek occupation and desacration, namely by king Antiochus IV, until the restoration of the temple.

Are you able to prove this with verses?

1260 days are the timespan of the great ftribulation

Is this future to us still, or has it happened already?

; 1290 days are the same timespan plus a leap month; 1335 days are the same timespan plus extra 75 days, and those 75 days are the precise gap from the Day of Atonement (Yom Kippur) to the Feast of Dedication (Hanukkah), and the would be the restoration of the holy temple desacrated by the Antichrist.

By Antichrist, you mean Antiochus IV?

Only 2300 day prophecy is about Antiochus IV, because the context of it is specifically explained as the conquest of the Greecian empire; 1260, 1290 and 1335 all appeared in Dan. 12, that's for the end time.

BTW, Dan. 8:14 specifically says "mornings and evenings" in NIV and some other common translations, no "day-year" principle is implied. There's 1000 year a day principle, but no "day-year" principle.

I see. So somewhere in Daniel 11 and 12 you decided that there is a gap of time that has yet to be fulfilled, correct?

See, here's the thing. As I mentioned earlier in the thread, once one does an honest, not biased interpretation of Daniel 10, all the way from verse one, they will discover that Antiochus IV Epiphanes died way before the Abomination of Desolation ever occurred.

The historical account keeps going until we get to King Herod. Yes, King Herod is in Daniel 10. Why wouldn't he be? A league is made with him in Daniel 11:23. The verses then go on to describe the history of Octavian, Mark Antony and King Herod.

By the time we get to Daniel 11:30, we find that King Herod 'bet on the wrong horse'. He backed Mark Antony who lost the Battle of Actium. The Roman 'Ships of Chittim' were too powerful. King Herod has to now grovel to Octavian to remain as "King of the Jews".

Yeah, that's right, King Herod was the King of the Jews. Does that title ring a bell to anyone? Do you really think God is going to ignore that fact and not mention anything about this wicked person in the Old Testament? You folks better make sure you aren't teaching blasphemy by making this all about Antiochus IV.

This verse is all about the times of Jesus:

Daniel 11:31 - And arms shall stand on his part, and they shall pollute the sanctuary of strength, and shall take away the daily sacrifice, and they shall place the abomination that maketh desolate.

The Little Horn of Daniel 8 is referenced in the above verse. The Seleucid Empire is gone by this time. The Roman Emperors are now in charge, starting with Octavius:

1784765477768.png
The history of that period is right here in front of everyone's faces:

Daniel 8:9 - And out of one of them came forth a little horn, which waxed exceeding great, toward the south, and toward the east, and toward the pleasant land.

This has been fact checked by many:

1784765693877.png

The Seleucid Empire is gone by this time. The Roman Emperors are now in charge, starting with Octavius:

Am I the only person on the planet that understands the next few verses?

Daniel 11:32 - And such as do wickedly against the covenant shall he corrupt by flatteries: but the people that do know their God shall be strong, and do exploits.

Come on people. A person with only a two-hour course in the Four Gospels could interpret these verses!

Do you know your God or not??

Who was corrupted during the times of Jesus? Ever heard of Judas?

What does 'do exploits' mean?

1784766400515.png

So now we have people, who KNOW THEIR GOD, going around performing miracles. Who could they be?

Let's find out:

Daniel 11:33 - And they that understand among the people shall instruct many: yet they shall fall by the sword, and by flame, by captivity, and by spoil, many days.

Those that understood 'instructed many'. Does anyone get it yet?

1784766562242.png

What was that about falling by the sword?

1784766651982.png

John the Baptist anyone? Were any folks put into captivity or burned for following Jesus?

Keep going:

Daniel 11:35 (New Living Translation) - And some of the wise will fall victim to persecution. In this way, they will be refined and cleansed and made pure until the time of the end, for the appointed time is still to come.

Is Antiochus IV purifying and cleansing and making pure? Really people?

Who is the one that purifies, cleanses and makes pure?

And why hasn't the 'appointed time' come yet?

John 7:6 - Then Jesus said unto them, My time is not yet come: but your time is alway ready.

The 'appointed time' is the Crucifixion, i.e., the abomination that maketh desolate. The 'end' is 70 AD.

That is what is in Daniel 12!!!

The 'appointed time' is the Crucifixion, i.e., the abomination that maketh desolate. The 'end' is 70 AD.

That is what is in Daniel 12!!!

There is no ''gap of thousands of years' when going from Daniel 11 to Daniel 12. It is continuous history written before it happened.

Look:

Daniel 12:1 - And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince which standeth for the children of thy people: and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time: and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book.

Time of trouble such as never was?

Matthew 24:21 - For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.

The Great Tribulation began in 70 AD and continues to this very day.

Do you think anyone written in the Book of Life was saved when Jesus died for our sins?

It is finished he said, remember? According to some here, Jesus has yet to save anyone.

Daniel 12:2 - And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt.

The above verse was the preview spoken of in the New Testament:

Matthew 27:52-53 - And the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints which slept arose, And came out of the graves after his resurrection, and went into the holy city, and appeared unto many.

Daniel 12:2 is NOT about the final resurrections.

Daniel is all about Jesus and what he did for us. Why has everyone thrown him in the garbage?

The purpose of this thread is to discover what would happen if all of Daniel's 'days' prophecies were consistently interpreted using the Day/Year Principle:

This would include prophecies regarding the Two Witnesses found in the Book of Revelation. In other words, they prophecy for 1260 years.

Here is a condensed list of the various 'days' we find as well as their corresponding 'years':
  • Revelation 11:11 - Three days and an half = 3-1/2 years
  • Daniel 7:25 - A time and times and the dividing of time = 1260 years
  • Daniel 12:7 - A time, times, and an half = 1260 years
  • Revelation 11:2 - Forty and two months = 1260 years
  • Revelation 13:5 - Forty and two months = 1260 years
  • Revelation 11:3 - A thousand two hundred and threescore days = 1260 years
  • Revelation 12:6 - A thousand two hundred and threescore days = 1260 years
  • Revelation 12:14 - A time, and times, and half a time = 1260 years
  • Daniel 12:11 - A thousand two hundred and ninety days = 1290 years
  • Daniel 8:14 - Two thousand and three hundred days = 2300 years
We will start with the longest one, the 2300 days:

One of the most important aspects of interpreting these days/years correctly is to accurately determine either the starting point or the end point. For example, some assumed that the beginning of the 2300 days started around the time when the prophecy was first announced. This pushed the end date to the year 1844. Unfortunately, this ended up causing something called "The Great Disappointment".

What if we assumed that the Sanctuary being cleansed happened during the Crucifixion? This is a belief held by some. That would mean that the starting point would be 2300 years BCE. According to many scholars, 2300 years before Jesus would fit perfectly with the Flood of Noah.

WRdc0Cb.png

This is a fascinating correlation. We will go with this for now. What about 1260 days/years? We turn to Revelation to get us started:

The 'wilderness' may be a reference to the wilderness that the Israelites fled to during the time of Moses. If we assume a 'late date' Exodus, i.e. 1260 BCE, this would put the end date at the birth of Jesus. So far, everything points to Jesus.

What about the Two Witnesses?

Many scholars agree that the Two Witnesses are symbolic of the Law and Prophets. Once again, we see that 1260 years fits perfectly from Moses to John the Baptist. This is another perfect match.

What about the 3-1/2 days that the Two Witnesses were dead?

John the Baptist, the last of the Two Witnesses, was killed around the time Jesus began his ministry.

pl41WOo.png

3-1/2 years later, in the middle of the 70th week of Daniel, the Two Witnesses are raised during the Crucifixion. A great earthquake occurred:

The Two Witnesses came to life. Once again, everything matches with precise timing. Moreover, it all points to Jesus. Amen?

So far, what we see is that the 1260 days begins around the Exodus and ends with the birth of Jesus. Thirty years later, at 1290 in the timeline, Jesus begins his ministry:

This means that the Abomination of Desolation was being set up at that time:

Now we know with absolute clarity when this even occurred. The Abomination of Desolation was the Crucifixion.

That leaves us with the 1335 years date, again starting at Exodus:

We all know what happened approximately 45 years after the Abomination of Desolation was set up...

Blessed were those that 'saw', i.e., understood the 1335 days prophecy and were able to leave and rebuild their lives before the destruction of 70AD.

Summary:
  • 2300 BCE to the Crucifixion = Daniel's 2300 Days
  • 1260 BCE to the birth of Jesus = Daniel's 1260 Days
  • 1260 BCE to the beginning of the ministry of Jesus = Daniel's 1290 Days (30 years later)
  • 1260 BCE to the destruction of the final temple = Daniel's 1335 Days (45 years later)

Fascinating stuff but the two witnesses being in the first century would mean that the 7th trumpet already was blown? Normally historicists put that after the destruction of Rome. So whats this about? Glad to see a fresh perspective on eschatology.

Is it really 1260 years from Moses to John the Baptist? Too interesting of a coincidence

There is no ''gap of thousands of years' when going from Daniel 11 to Daniel 12.
I am thinking that the words 'And at that time' in Daniel 12:1 are significant. :)

Daniel 12:2 is NOT about the final resurrections.
However, how many times in history does the Bible indicate the simultaneous resurrection of both saved and lost? Do you think one such occasion occurred circa 70 A.D. involving only the OT saints?

The Great Tribulation began in 70 AD and continues to this very day.
I believe the Bible is very straight-forward in showing this to us. It is one of the most simple things to understand in eschatology - but, people ignore it.

"At the appointed time," (11:29), "at the time of the end," (11:40). Go figure.

My interpretation:

Daniel 11:29 - At the time appointed he shall return, and come toward the south; but it shall not be as the former, or as the latter.

This is referring to the rise of King Herod and the coming 'massacre of the innocents':

Matthew 2:16 - Then Herod, when he saw that he was mocked of the wise men, was exceeding wroth, and sent forth, and slew all the children that were in Bethlehem, and in all the coasts thereof, from two years old and under, according to the time which he had diligently enquired of the wise men."

The above verse was the fulfilment of the 'Rachel weeping for her children' verses. Think of the word 'indignation' that is used in Daniel.

1784997124607.png

Daniel 11:40 - And at the time of the end shall the king of the south push at him: and the king of the north shall come against him like a whirlwind, with chariots, and with horsemen, and with many ships; and he shall enter into the countries, and shall overflow and pass over.

This is referring to the same time period of Daniel 11:29 when Octavian (King of the North) went against Mark Antony (King of the South) and Cleopatra VII in the incredibly famous Battle of Actium:

@GaryA should watch the video. :)

Thanks @Komentaja .

I believe that the final trumpet is yet to be fulfilled and is the same as described here:

1 Corinthians 15:52 - In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.

It is the same as this:

1 Thessalonians 4:17 - Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

In other words, the final trumpet will be what some folks call the Rapture, Harpazo or Blessed Hope.

The 1260 BCE date (Late Date Exodus) is highly debated; however, it is my opinion that it fits Scripture better than the 'Early Date Exodus' of around 1446 BC.

The 2300 erev/boker of Dan 8:14 aka 1150 sidereal days places those passages squarely in the Maccabean revolt period. It's a perfect match.

To map these dates onto the Julian calendar, historians align the ancient Seleucid Era (SE) records and Jewish calendar markers (such as the 25th of Kislev) with proleptic Julian calendar equivalents.

The Desecration (The Start of the 1,150 Days):
The suspension of the daily sacrifices (tamid) and the setup of the altar to Zeus in the Jerusalem Temple occurred around December 167 BCE (specifically cited in 1 Maccabees as the 25th of Kislev, 145 SE, which falls near December 13–167 BCE on the Julian calendar).

The Restoration and Cleansing:
Counting forward 1,150 literal days (or roughly three years, bridging the 2,300 evening-morning cycles) brings the timeline to the purification and rededication of the Temple by Judas Maccabeus. This historical rededication occurred on the 25th of Kislev, 148 SE, which corresponds to December 14, 164 BCE on the Julian calendar.

Garbage in garbage out......

The true intended meaning is perfectly clear.......to this Messianic Jewish scholar. As you would expect.

Dr. Arnold Fruchtenbaum’s exegesis of **Daniel 8:14** (*“For 2,300 evenings and mornings; then the sanctuary shall be restored”*) rests on a strictly literal, dispensational, and historical-grammatical framework.

He approaches the passage by addressing three core technical questions: the time unit, the primary historical fulfillment, and the future/prophetic implications.

## 1. The Meaning of "Evenings and Mornings" (*'Erev Boqer*)
Fruchtenbaum rejects symbolic interpretations (such as the historicist "day-for-a-year" principle) and takes the phrase **2,300 evenings and mornings** literally. However, in dispensational scholarship, there are two primary ways this count is understood, and Fruchtenbaum aligns with the **sacrificial count** view:
* **1,150 Days (2,300 Offerings):** The Hebrew phrase *'erev boqer* mirrors the language of Genesis 1 and the specific daily temple ritual—the *Tamid*—which required two burnt offerings per day: one in the evening and one in the morning (Exodus 29:38–42). Thus, 2,300 "evening-mornings" represents **2,300 individual daily sacrifices**, which translates to **1,150 full literal days** (just over 3 years and 2 months).

Fruchtenbaum understands the truth of this passage: that the 1,150-day calculation fits the exact historical duration of the intense desecration and suspension of the daily sacrifices under Antiochus IV Epiphanes.

## 2. Primary Historical Fulfillment: Antiochus IV Epiphanes
In Fruchtenbaum’s exposition of Daniel 8, the "Little Horn" of chapter 8 is **not** the end-times Antichrist directly, but rather **Antiochus IV Epiphanes**, the Seleucid tyrant.

* **The Scope:** While Daniel 7's "little horn" arises out of the Fourth (Roman) Empire and represents the future Antichrist, Daniel 8's "little horn" arises out of one of the four divisions of Alexander the Great's Greek Empire (specifically the Seleucid branch).

* **The Event:** Antiochus suppressed Jewish religious practices, halted the *Tamid* (daily sacrifices), and desecrated the Second Temple by erecting an altar to Zeus Over the Jewish altar (the historical "abomination of desolation" of the Maccabean period).

* **The Restoration:** The period of 1,150 days closely measures the timeframe from the severe defilement and cessation of the regular sacrifices until the Temple was re-consecrated by Judas Maccabeus in 164 BC (an event commemorated annually by Hanukkah).

## 3. Typological Dual Fulfillment (The Antichrist Connection)
While the 2,300 evening-mornings had a **literal, historical fulfillment in the 2nd century BC**, Fruchtenbaum emphasizes the principle of **double reference / typology**:
* **Antiochus as a Type:** Antiochus IV Epiphanes serves as the ultimate Old Testament *type* or pattern of the future Antichrist.

* **The Pattern:** Just as Antiochus abolished the daily sacrifice in Jerusalem, set up a blasphemous image in the sanctuary, and persecuted Israel for a set time period, the future Antichrist (Daniel 9:27, 11:36–45) will break his covenant with Israel in the middle of the 70th Week, halt temple sacrifices, and desecrate the rebuilt Third Temple.

## Summary of Fruchtenbaum's Position
| Passage Element | Fruchtenbaum's Exegetical Interpretation |
|---|---|
| **2,300 Evenings & Mornings** | 2,300 daily sacrifices = **1,150 literal 24-hour days**. |
| **Historical Target** | Antiochus IV Epiphanes (167–164 BC). |
| **Cleansing of the Sanctuary** | The removal of pagan idols, repair of the altar, and rededication of the Temple by the Maccabees. |

I am thinking that the words 'And at that time' in Daniel 12:1 are significant. :)

Thanks @GaryA for bring up a good point. I wanted to share my opinions on that verse:

Daniel 12:1 -And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince which standeth for the children of thy people: and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time: and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book.

A lot of folks ignore the context of Daniel 10 when interpreting Michael. I believe Daniel 12:1 is a continuation of the same theme of angels fighting a war in the spirit realm:

Daniel 10:20 - Then said he, Knowest thou wherefore I come unto thee? and now will I return to fight with the prince of Persia: and when I am gone forth, lo, the prince of Grecia shall come.

I see it like this:
  • Prince of Persia = Breast/Arms of Silver = 4th Head of the Beast
  • Prince of Grecia = Belly/Thighs of Brass = 5th Head of the Beast
  • Prince of Rome = Legs of Iron = 6th Head of the Beast
Michael stands up to all of them in that same era of long-ago history.

Even though Daniel 10 doesn't mention a 'Prince of Rome', I believe it is alluded to in the rest of Daniel, but especially in the next verse after Daniel 10:20:

Daniel 10:21 - But I will shew thee that which is noted in the scripture of truth: and there is none that holdeth with me in these things, but Michael your prince.

It's as if the angel is giving us a preview of Daniel 12:1. Michael is going to stand up yet again to fight this 'Little Horn' Roman power during the times of Jesus and the Herodian Dynasty.

However, how many times in history does the Bible indicate the simultaneous resurrection of both saved and lost?

Some may argue never. That is the strange thing. The final two resurrections are separated by a thousand years:

Revelation 20:5 - But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection.

That is why I believe Daniel 12 is referring to what happened at the Crucifixion.

Do you think one such occasion occurred circa 70 A.D. involving only the OT saints?

Not to my knowledge, no.

I am interested in hearing your take if you have evidence for that.

I believe the Bible is very straight-forward in showing this to us. It is one of the most simple things to understand in eschatology - but, people ignore it.

Precisely.

Lol, OK @cv5 .

I will take a look at your AI slop detailed research and comment. :p
No you won't. I have already posted that exact content earlier on this very thread.

And yes, it utterly wrecks your historicist pretensions.....🥲

Here you go buddy. But are you able to comprehend how this impacts historicism?

Here let me help you: the 1,260 days are literal sidereal DAYS aka 42 months aka 3.5 years.

The 3.5 sidereal DAYS before their resurrection follows the day for a year pattern.

Oh and BTW, the other 1,260's, the 1,290 and 1,335 are also undoubtedly sidereal DAYS, effortlessly and eminently provable in context.

[Rev 11:3, 11 KJV]
3 And I will give [power] unto my two witnesses, and they shall prophesy a thousand two hundred [and] threescore days, clothed in sackcloth. ...

11 And after three days and an half the Spirit of life from God entered into them, and they stood upon their feet; and great fear fell upon them which saw them.

All of this proves that historicism is a flaming train wreck.
