"Dan. 7:7 After this I saw in the night visions, and behold a fourth beast, dreadful and terrible, and strong exceedingly; and it had great iron teeth: it devoured and brake in pieces, and stamped the residue with the feet of it: and it was diverse from all the beasts that were before it; and it had ten horns."
"Saw in the night visions," This means darkness and troublesome times.
"Dreadful and terrible, and strong exceedingly; and it had great iron teeth," This is the Roman Empire.
"It devoured and brake in pieces, and stamped the residue with the feet of it," What lands Rome didn't outright conquer, it controlled by force of its awesome power. All feared the retribution of Rome.
"And it was diverse from all the beasts before it; and it had ten horns," The Roman Empire was very powerful in its day. It's method of rule became the pattern of governing for many subsequent empires to follow. All these empires (nations) that followed the Roman Empire are lumped together as this fourth beast with ten horns. This nation is one of the ten horns. We are patterned off of the British Empire which is another horn.
