I believe that in the next set of scriptures are talking about what Jesus said in one of His Parables. Seeds are sown, some fall to the side and never take root, some take root but very shallow and dry up and wither away. If a person experienced the call of salvation on his life, nothing can take that away from him, not any man or any demon. How ever just as God gave us free will to choose Him, we have free will to walk away from our choice. If we walk away the Bible says that person is like a dog returning to its own vomit, or a Cleaned up pig running for the mud. Make sure to take care of the seed in you so it will grow, take deep root, and flourish.
20-22 If they've escaped from the slum of sin by experiencing our Master and Savior, Jesus Christ, and then slid back into that same old life again, they’re worse than if they had never left. Better not to have started out on the straight road to God than to start out and then turn back, repudiating the experience and the holy command. They prove the point of the proverbs, “A dog goes back to its own vomit” and “A scrubbed-up pig heads for the mud.”
