Just before Jesus started His Ministry, the Bible says that the Spirit lead Him into the wilderness to Fast and Pray. When we Fast and Pray we are moving closer to God and we receive revelations of what He is calling us to do. Jesus spent 40 days seeking His Father's Will. He drew close to the Father and His Father was drawing closer to Him.
When Jesus's time of Prayer and Fasting was finished, His earthly body was hungry. The devil came to Him and tried in every way to get Jesus to sin.Jesus never fought the devil, He resisted him by speaking the words of His Father, ( Old Testament Scriptures), The resistance of the schemes that the devil through at Jesus, finally wore down the devil and he ran away in failure.

Dare You To Believe that you can do all things because of God's Spirit living inside you!!!
5 Do you think it is empty rhetoric when the Scriptures say, “The spirit that lives in us is addicted to envy and jealousy”?
6 You may think that the situation is hopeless, but God gives us more grace when we turn away from our own interests. That’s why Scripture says,
God opposes the proud, but He pours out grace on the humble.
7 So submit yourselves to the one true God and fight against the devil and his schemes. If you do, he will run away in failure.
8 Come close to the one true God, and He will draw close to you. Wash your hands; you have dirtied them in sin. Cleanse your heart, because your mind is split down the middle, your love for God on one side and selfish pursuits on the other.
