Just read another article on the search for dark matter. I find this fascinating because I believe it is mankind's best attempt at scientifically detecting the spiritual realm. (I find it strangely coincidental that science says it encompases 90% of the universe, and how God says He wants His 10% back). This article even extrapolated on the possibility of "dark beings". What makes it so intriguing is that the last time this happened (at the tower of babel, which I've heard some theorize was some form of technology that allowed mankind to peer into the heavens) God intervened and put a stop to it. Could this dark energy research be the harbinger of God interceding again, bringing a start to the tribulation judgments?

What do you all think? Is dark matter (a misnomer in my book, we are the dark matter) the elements of the spiritual realm?
 
Im not into all this science and stuff to be honest. I just accept God as is. He is in the light, and that's were should think of being ourselves. anything dark, hidden, or unseen, makes me think of one person who we as Christians not to take heed to, or be interested in. and without giving him the glory by mentioning his name, as he has many. But in this case the " Enemy " of course he is going to want and try get people into anything that is dark.

Science for many years has been trying to disprove the existence of God, But failed. So they come out with all the new jargon, of dark matter, or dark this or dark that. God will not be found anywhere in the dark. So these scientist are wasting there time and money. I'ts a bit ironic really, these scientist are looking for God, to try disprove him, and yet, they must believe in him for them to try to find him? Bit weird thinking really, But these scientist will continue to try find this God, and will try to disprove him, and will try to come up with new theories, and we al know what the meaning of theory? Something that is thought up without fact or proof.

So to me, dark matter, has no interest for me, as I just accept God as is. and no offence to these scientist? I am more closer to God than they are, and i didn't even had to look far.
 
"Dark" matter is called that because we can't see it. It doesn't refer to any entity, or good vs bad. It's just a word assignment, that which we can see physically is "light matter" while that which is invisible to us is dark matter to science. That's why I called it a misnomer, since our world is fallen it is in the "dark", meaning what science is now (seemingly) seeking to discover and quantify is actually the light.

I wonder how pundits like Bill Maher and his kind will equate this research to their "it doesn't exist" mantra. They can no longer claim that 'nothing is there' because science is pouring billions into proving that there is something there. Yes, you're right, I didn't need to spend billions to know it is there either. But, that's the mentality of the unsaved world. And why mankind is quickly painting itself into a corner on this.
 
what "dark matter" and "dark energy" boil down to is that according to the observed laws of physics, and the observed radiation & matter in the universe, things on a very large scale shouldn't be as they apparently are: galaxies should be flying apart instead of forming beautiful spiral structures and the universe itself should be flying apart much faster than the observed expansion; the difference in the affect of the things we can see and measure in the universe and the amount of matter and energy there would have to be to explain how everything is kept in balance is where the figure of up to 80-90% of the mater & energy in the universe is completely unknown to us - hence "dark" - comes from.

i think it's pretty interesting that no known physical force or quantity can explain what holds the universe together, in light of Colossians 1:17

"He is before all things, and in him all things hold together."

science certainly doesn't account for or understand spiritual things. i don't think science's grasp of the shape and nature of the universe is such that we can rule out some other real or induced force is responsible for this great difference in theory & observation. if the history of science teaches us anything it's that every step forward in understanding God's great universe is a realization of many times more that we don't understand.

I think it's good that you are interested in this and are asking questions, but be careful not to worry about the unknown because the unknown is known and seen by the eyes of God. He is taking care of things. Also, some things are purposefully hidden from us. Maybe dark matter could be one of them. When the gov't opens back up, we can look it up on the NASA web site and see what we can find out.
 
If you think of a galaxy like a lot of long metal chains tied at one end. When you spin the chains the ends lag behind. But scientists have found that stars on the fringes of galaxies travel at the same speed as those on the inner parts. Which means that they have theorized that there is a type of 'anti-gravity' if you will. It would be the negative end of the magnet if gravity is the positive, so to speak. But for a gravitational force to exist, there needs to be matter, hence the idea of dark matter.

But it is just a theory. And there are other theories on the behaviour of electromagnetism that dont require the idea of dark matter at all.

This part of science is still being investigated though and no definite conclusions have been made. Very interesting stuff though, with lots of implications. If we can understand the expansion of the universe and how electromagnetism comes into it, we can begin to use the information in brilliant ways. Not least of which might be figuring out how to contain plasma in a large scale fusion reaction to harness cheap, environmentally safe, abundant energy.
 
dark matter as scientists understand it is not spiritual...it is just another type of physical matter...
 
Exactly... they know not what they are tapping into. Think about it. We can't see the spiritual realm, we can only see the effect it has on what we can see. Dark matter theory is the same exact thing - we can't see dark matter, we can only see it's effect on the matter we can see. And the last time man tried to tap the heavens, God interceded. To me, this is one more sign that God is about to intercede hugely very soon.



For the scientifically curious, the research going on now with the Large Hadron Collider (billions of dollars to spit two subatomic particles into each other at near the speed of light) is to create, among other things, dark matter. And big dollar dark matter detectors have been placed miles deep in the earth in abandoned mines, the theory being that the earth will filter out any 'light' particles which cannot pass thru it, so any particle detections by the instruments would be dark ones.

They just have the names backwards. This is the darkness of man attempting to peer into the light. And it should help propagate a full showing of that Light.

So, you can't see dark matter and I say thank God. For satan is dark and you cant see it either, but, it is very destructive.

To the Tower of Babel side issue they had one language at the time which facilitated their building project. Today, I believe the parallel 'one language' is mathematics and with speeded up communication thru computers via 0's and 1's.

And it's interesting that when Christ returns we will return to one singular language. (Zeph. 3:9)
 
the Large Hadron Collider isn't built to detect "dark matter" but weakly interacting, high energy particles that are already known or theorized. even if all the theoretical particles and interactions are verified by the LHC, they don't account for the 'missing mass' implied by astonomical observations. the 80-90% figure includes​ all the things the LHC has detected or is looking for.
 
That's true, it wasn't built for that purpose, but they've found that it's good for that. The article I just read theorized that when the two particles collide, they can account for all the detectible mass, but the energy they contain does not total the energy in the collision. They now think that the missing energy is accounted for by the missing mass. That's why they recently poured a whole bunch more money into the LHC. It's now all a search for the missing mass.

Such a waste of money, considering they could walk into any decent house of God for free and see what they are missing.

Now I honestly think that C.S. Lewis was an amazing psychologist (even though he never claimed to be nor had a degree in such). But his understanding on how the modern world and modern people work is absolutly amazing... I also think that the topics he discusses in the screwtape letters are not from his own knowledge but the Holy Spirit's... After all the inspiration to write the letters (book) struck him while listening to a sermon :p

I just find it intriguing how on the history channel and of the science channels they can discuss topics such as aliens we can't see... And aliens who are far advanced and belong to another dimension... And the people supporting these arguments are scientists/physicists like Krauss, Kaku, and Dawkins... Which are the very scientists arguing against a Christian God... And the public eats it up and finds it 'logical' to believe in a alien that is far advanced and to our eyes invisible because they belong to another dimension; but not a God or angle or devil or demon with the same deffinition... And these main stream scientists/physicists are the media head for such things as dark matter, dark energy, parallel universes and such......

I just think that many people saw this coming.... That we would end up becoming so "intelligent" that we actually start to find evidence of a spiritual world.. And when we do we will try to write it off as a tangible idea that we only came to the knowledge of through logic and reason...

Funny thing is, I don't know if you have touched on this yet... But the big bang theory is supported by eternal dark energy... And at the time being the only way to get a big bang according to the math is by having eternal dark energy that existed before the big bang occurred... And if it happened by chance and only chance (the big bang that is) they now have to put in the multiple universe theory...

I just find it funny that this eternal force has created our universe according to science, they believe in aliens, the believe in aliens of another dimension (who by definition could see us and interact with us without our knowledge). Yet, they have a hard time wrapping around the notion of a God...

I also like when C.S. Lewis said we would worship sex by the time we started to accept the spiritual realm in terms of science.... IDK about you but some times I think about the bible and when a add pops on all I can think about is, I surely live in a fallen world where there are posters of women nude and covering their nudeness with their hands on channels like Disney and Nickelodeon...

There's nothing spiritual about it. It's physics.

We can't see infared light with the naked eye. Does that mean it's spiritual?

If they had called it 'other-matter', would it still hold the same connotation with the devil and darkness to you?

I don't think it's the start of the Tribulation. I don't know God's mind, though.

I don't think the spiritual realm is in a dimension we can find. I think it's an alternate dimension where time and space have no existence. I don't think we can access it ever, without the keys to unlock heaven's gates. Those, you already know. Get saved. Follow Christ's example, etc., etc., and last but not least, for most of us anyway, die a physical death.

It's just science. God's probably laughing at how naive humans are, even the smartest.
