dating and going Dutch!!!!

When on a date would you ladies "go Dutch" or would you expect the guy to pay? I think the answer to this may depend on the age group.. but it will be interesting to see.

And, Guys, would you prefer "going Dutch" or would you pay?
 
what is going dutch?? i've never heard this term before
 
I think there's a certain satisfaction in paying for your "special someone's" meal. It can be a pride issue to some guys, but for me it feels like a good area to provide and care for her in a small way. (If you're in a stage before marriage, engagement, etc. where providing isn't something normal).

Kinda like getting her used to being cared for by someone other than her family. But I'm not above letting her pay for her own meal if she gets stubborn. :D
 
In my past relationship I tried to pay for my own, but he would never let me. He tried to break my stubbornness... I would rather go Dutch, though! I feel awful to think that he would be expected to always pay.

Umm i dont think i really care who pays or how many ways the bill gets split up, as long as i get to eat.

Ok, well I looked up some info on it. It was the #1 song in the UK in Oct. '82; the #1 song in Australia in Dec. '82; the #1 song in Canada from Jan to Feb '83; it was also #1 in Holland and Switzerland, and was #10 in the Billlboard top 100 in the US in '82.

I guess its before your guy's time :(
 
if its just friends then sure i'd pay, but if i guy asks me out on a date HE BETTER PAY. If i was asked to pay during a date i'd be put off. if i knew him after a while and it was agreed that i'd pay then sure. but if it was a first date then that would be the last date.
 
In every relationship I've had, unless he had strong feelings on the matter which he usually didn't, we'd always take turns with the bill. Money's getting tight and I never found it fair for one of us to always have to pay. Plus when someone else buys my food I feel less inclined to order the amount I usually eat because I don't wanna make him bankrupt lol. But when I pay I can eat whatever I like! :P
 
Depends. On one first date my date paid the bill. But the next date I returned the favor. For I knew I wouldn't date him again. So we where 'even' at the end. I couldn't let him pay, knowing I was going to tell him I had no furhter plans.
On a blind date, my date suggested to 'go Dutch' for he was almost out of money. And here comes the providing arguement. If a guy isn't able to provide one simple meal for me. (just a pizza) it gives me a very bad impression about his spending pattern...
 
I have no probably paying my own way. But I am weird in the fact that the guy needs a drivers license and means to drive himself to the date.
 
I'd go dutch when we're getting to know each other. That way, I won't feel obliged to do anything or say something if I don't agree with something. When we're in a committed relationship/when we are serious, I'd let him do so but would also pay for his stuff now and then. :)
