"Trying" is where addicted people start in giving it up. Then they discover the degree of the strength of their addiction. They try, they fail, they try, they fail. That's when determination has to kick in or you just cycle in and out of addiction. So Bingo does have a point. You must be determined to quit, the more the better. If you have ever had an addiction you know exactly what I'm talking about.Trying is lame?? Seriously? I'd say the fact that she WANTS to try and "clean up" fairly obviously indicates that she DOES want to quit drinking and get sober.. Trying is NEVER lame. That's all God requires of us.. to simply try our best.
I don't know about Ambie, but for me, I just got tired of not getting anywhere with alcohol as my main "thing".
I was just so at the end of things, I sought help, and moved forward never to return again. 40 plus years later without a thought of going back.
When Jesus brings us to the end of ourselves, and we realize it takes more that us to conquer, help is there to get us through.
That help is Jesus!

I used mind and mood altering substances for twenty four years before crying out to God for help, a God I did not believe in and had run from the majority of my life. I was not asking for help in quitting the substances, but getting clean and sober was the result I found a lot of support, encouragement, and inspiration in various 12 step fellowships, where they say, "Let us love you until you learn to love yourself." It is an ongoing journey Congrats on your second day of sobriety... it is one day at a time regardless of when we had our last drink, and one cannot attain weeks or months and years of sobriety without taking that first step of putting down the substances. Relapse is part of my story, but it does not have to be part of yours. By the Grace of God I am once again over eight years sober 
I have so much to be grateful for! Praise the Lord, for He is good! His Love endures forever

I'm just being honest, I chuckled just a second because I've heard comedians say something similar- EVERYONE is on day two of recovery from something. But I know you are serious and your pain is real, and we all know that helpless feeling. But it's never a hopeless feeling, because that's not real. Rome wasn't built in a day, or even two- but Jesus did it in three;. For us... You get a three day coin in Christianity.
Congratulations! Keep up the good work. We have a recovery thread here called CRA. Christians in Recovery Anonymous I'm the OP, Calibob and I too am in recovery for alcohol addiction and major depressive disorder. Your invited you can read, study a little bit, give or receive testimonies. Or ask questions we are all equals there. But it's the differences make us stronger together.
