dead beat dad
heres scenario:
1. past ten years father has not called me once
2. I tried to call him and involve him in my kids life ...he is not interested
3. he drops by at Christmas dumps his expensive gifts off and stays 1 1/2 hr (needs to go see his step daughter) all the while he has one foot out the door when he is here.. this is the only time I see him but past 3 yrs he didnt come.
4. when I was 19 I gave him a pic of me in a frame and he handed it back said I don't want it, he said he didn't have a place for it.
5. he has never invited me over for 14 years

step mom emailed me wants to come over and this time I said no thank you. It is just so uncomfortable and phony. besides I would rather go see my inlaws --they are good and interested about my kids (good grandparents)

now my kids want to know if he is coming by this Christmas. I think They think he is mr wonderful my kids are older now I think they should see

I have difficulty with my family, these verses help me:

Mat 12:48 But he answered and said unto him that told him, Who is my mother? and who are my brethren?
Mat 12:49 And he stretched forth his hand toward his disciples, and said, Behold my mother and my brethren!
Mat 12:50 For whosoever shall do the will of my Father which is in heaven, the same is my brother, and sister, and mother.

Mat 8:21 And another of his disciples said unto him, Lord, suffer me first to go and bury my father.
Mat 8:22 But Jesus said unto him, Follow me; and let the dead bury their dead.

I'm sorry to hear about that. I think you should accept the invitation and go to his house. Jesus said to love your enemies. This man is your father. Honor your father even if he didn't do his part. You do your part for God. Who knows, you may be able to help your father repent. He's probably weird about it partly because he wasn't involved in your life. Was the relationship between him and your mother really difficult before?

You need only ask yourself one question: What would Jesus Do? Is it easy? Following the steps of our Lord and Savior is not always easy, but it is the best and right way to please God. May your family have peace and blessings!

Invest in relationships that are beneficial to your children.
