Ah. Alrighty so here's the deal.. Now, any stand strong Christian knows that sex is for marriage. I have converted to Christianity a while back and now I get constant ridicule from all of the people I hung out with when I was in my sinful days.

I approach everyone with just such love and compassion now that I just don't think everyone knows how to handle it. Which in a way is kind of weird because why would someone wanna interact with someone who is just a butt all the time ya know. Alright anyways, I am now celibate and have been since converting. When spreading the gospel of The Lord, one of my big topics of choice is obviously saving the excitement for marriage. And no matter what I share with people, the biblical proof and my past experiences. They still shut me out. Now, I know that not everyone will agree, and I do not push it I just educate and move on.

What are some things that I could use to open there eyes more? Am I missing something here? I need more lead way to help bring these people to Jesus

It sounds like you're doing pretty well all you can.

A big part of the problem is that marriage in general is misunderstood and somewhat frowned upon in the secular world. A bad view of marriage makes saving sex for marriage sound horrible.

A higher view of marriage, seeing it as something to seek out actively and aspire too, makes saving ones self seem far more reasonable. But its very hard to raise people views of marriage, and may be no more possible than convincing them that sleeping around isn't good...

You are missing the mark with the professing Christian world! You tell them to be pure and holy, especially in the area of sexuality, and most get upset or do not understand, you have to get them to see and also yourself what is required of thee to enter the kingdom of God!

A saving faith produces heart purity in a truly repentant soul, who has actually crucified their flesh with Christ, and now has a pure and cleansed heart, they will no longer be IN their carnal mind, and will now see how any kind of perversion or fornication leads to spiritual death.

Preach repentance and faith proven by deeds, you will be hated and despised, but IF you compromise and preach the Billly Graham sinners prayer, where you are told you were born a helpless sinner, and Jesus is your substitute and not your example to follow, then you will be producing those who are cleansed on the outside, but still defiled in their heart!

A Call to Repentance
Joel,2-12 “Now, therefore,” says the LORD,
“Turn to Me with all your heart,
With fasting, with weeping, and with mourning.”
13 So rend your heart, and not your garments;
Return to the LORD your God,
For He is gracious and merciful,
Slow to anger, and of great kindness;
And He relents from doing harm.
14 Who knows if He will turn and relent,
And leave a blessing behind Him—
Here is more strong proof what the lord requires of His creation to be reconciled to Himself, it’s very simple but made so complicated by the heaps and heaps of pastors and ministries who have the nerve to say mankind does NOT have to repent to be saved.
They come with a simple plan that was concocted by many reformed preachers and bible scholars, making the way to the cross more of a simple confession you are a sinner, then accepting the great substitution Jesus miraculously made for them, but they fail to give any proof that the word of God let alone the King of Kings taught this non sense!
Many will fight with all they have to preserve their man made doctrines including original sin, which then gives them many excuses to ignore the powerful verse above as well as many more strong warnings to repent, turn, come broken in heart before the mercy seat, and hope and pray God will grant pardon!
Now if this was being preached in the church system today, and well understood by the saved in sin defenders, then the mess Christianity is in today would not be so, instead, the word of God would become real, and powerful, converting the lost soul, once in love with sin, rebellion and the world, now cleansed and purged of all filthiness, and wickedness, ready to receive the implanted word of God!
But today these verses are totally ignored, and replaced with a sin message, undermined by many, many, reformed errors, where simple repentance is lost in a sea of original sin, imputation, substitution, OSAS etc, producing a church that was called poor, blind and naked by Jesus Himself!
2 Corinthians 6;17 The.refore
“Come out from among them
And be separate, says the Lord.
Do not touch what is unclean,
And I will receive you.”[d]
18 “I will be a Father to you,
And you shall be My sons and daughters,
Says the LORD Almighty.”[e]
Act 26:20 But to those first in Damascus, and Jerusalem, and to all the country of Judea, and to the nations, I made known the command to repent and to turn to God, doing works worthy of repentance.
Tommy
PS. We must come to Jesus on His terms, not mans, I know many are taught the opposite today, they either were indoctrinated into these teachings at an early age, and refuse to even search the scriptures, search what the early church taught, or dig deep to see just how far off the mark many liberal translations of the Bible are.
When the reformation came about, around the year 1500, many denominations were formed that took these errors and built on them, leading to what we have today! Many will profess anything different from what their beloved denominations teach is heresy, and a lie, especially those who cling to Calvinism, or any form of it.
This I understand, and accept, as God predicted this would happen, when the few remnant come with the truth. But it’s a bitter pill to swallow, when you see so many sincere people, young and old, so angry and upset when the truth is presented to them, and they attack the messenger.
To me this shows just how far off the mark they are in their minds, they love the lie, refuse to hear anything else except the born sinner, Jesus sub plan, made so famous by the likes of Billy Graham, Ed Young, and many more mega preachers, selling a gospel that is totally backwards from what the early church and Christ taught.
Are we full of pride and arrogant to say these things? Are we evil, uncaring, and full of hate when we confront the wall of deception accepted as truth today?
I guess I can also say this about the many who cling to the saved IN sin message, repeat after me crowd, who has every excuse why they can sin with impunity, then just confess, and then continue as a vile sinner in heart, where purity and separation is a pipe dream never to be accomplished in this life, even though the whole council of God is against them.
Dig deep as commanded, have some confidence in the Lord to lead you into truth, not some ministry or church pastor you support, who clings to these errors for whatever reason.
The gospel according to godliness is a TO DO gospel, which can only be received and understood in its form and context when the sinner wakes up and does this:
James 1-21-22;
21 So get rid of all uncleanness(repent) and the rampant outgrowth of wickedness, and in a humble (gentle, modest) spirit receive and welcome the Word which implanted and rooted [in your hearts] contains the power to save your souls.
22 But be doers of the Word [obey the message], and not merely listeners to it, betraying yourselves [into deception by reasoning contrary to the Truth].!
1, You repent first and foremost, see 2 Corinthians 7-10-11.
2, Then if the repentance is real, and from the heart, godly sorrow as described in 2 Corinthians, you then can receive the implanted word of God, and understand it as written by God.
3, Now you become a passionate doer of the word, obeying God from your heart, cleansed and purified, broken and willing to learn and grow more, and more in His great truth.

What are some things that I could use to open there eyes more? Am I missing something here? I need more lead way to help bring these people to Jesus

sometimes the best way to lead is to listen.

i'm not sure what to say. each person is different and different words and ways will reach them, but the only person who can truly open their eyes is God.

so I would pray and ask God for advice on what to say and if He will reveal to them the wisdom in waiting until they are married and what married life is suppose to be like.

are you talking to Christians or people who don't know Jesus?

If you are referring to unsaved people then...
I think you just tell people the Gospel and God's word works in their hearts and lives to bring them to a godly sorrow and repentance so that they in their humble and contrite hearts know how much they need a Savior and are ready to accept Jesus Christ.

remember God tells us one plants, one waters but to God is the glory.

1 Corinthians 3
[SUP]7 [/SUP]So then neither he who plants is anything, nor he who waters, but God who gives the increase.

If they claim to be Christian I would show them scriptures about sexual immorality and how the Bible says that if they lust it is better for them to marry than burn. However sexual promisuity is not spoken well of at all.

Once again we get to hear a personal vendetta against the church.

Laela, like water off a ducks back hun, don't let ridicule get you down! Remind them that you made your choice and they made theirs and if they cannot accept your choice then they are really not very good friends. I think your behaviour is great, so you keep showing them love and I hope they will accept your choices (and also convert). Stay strong.

idk how long ur conversion was but simply by the way u love and live will speak for itself and if anything know u have us!

Thank you all very much. I will take all of your words and with these I will better my approach! God bless you all!

hi Laela,

Am sure our Lord Jesus is proud of you, cos ure reaching out to your friends with the truth even though they ridicule you. i will like to also add that you pray for them as well. I trust that one day, the Holy Spirit will convict their hearts using those words you have spoken, and they would see the light just like Saul on his way to Damascus.

Keep up the good work, God bless you.

I used to be secular and if a friend or anyone tried to tell to me how we should all be celibate before marriage my eyes would just glaze over and I would suddenly need to be somewhere. In other words, no one really enjoys being told how they should live their life (I know that sounds harsh but I'm just trying to be frank).

I understand that you're trying to do them a favor but Jesus said "Whoever has ears to hear, let them hear." (Matthew 11:15).

Notice that it doesn't just say "whoever has ears". It says "Whoever has ears to hear, let them hear" which means whoever has the desire to hear what's being said. In other words, if you want your words to be effective you must do it at a time when they want advice in that area otherwise they probably won't really hear what you're saying.

Hey Laela,

If we want to get the most near to perfect evangelistic method we should take example from the only perfect man who ever lived right? And that was Jesus.

In matthew 19:16-19 when asked by the rich young man 'how do I enter the kingdom of heaven' Jesus went straight to the Ten Commandments and asked him if he had kept them. This was to make him see that he was sinfull and thus could not enter heaven by his own achievements. Many people like to miss out this part because some people react negatively to it. But think about it, if you don't know that your a slave to sin (John 8:34), then you don't know what you need saving from, and if you don't know what you need saving from, then you don't know why you need a saviour.

Also, by going sto god's law you hit straight at their heart as God says he has written his law on every human heart (Romans 2:15).

3 Excellent (of the ten) commandments to quickly make someone see their sin are:

3) You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain, for the Lord will not leave him unpunished who takes His name in vain.

8) You shall not steal

9) You shall not lie

Then, you need to tell them what the result of their sin is, as Revelation 21:8 says 'all liars and immoral persons will have their part in the lake of fire'

Then you you give them the good news, i.e the gospel/story of the cross (1 John 4:10). Tell them that they can avoid hell if they turn/repent from their sins (Mark 1:15) and believe that Jesus Christ is God (Acts 16:31). If they are sincere they will inherit the eternal kingdom (John 3:16) and God will send the Holy Spirit to live in them on earth (John 3:5).

Then tell them if they are truley saved, their responsibility from now on is to fix their eyes on Jesus Christ (Hebrews 12:2) as he is revealed in scripture. Also encourage them to find a good church as this is important for spiritual growth (Hebrews 10:25) and take a contact detail (if they are willing) so you can help the find a good church/bible.

Well done for being passionate about seing people saved as someone once said 'theres only one thing that we can do better on earth than we can in heaven, and thats to help bring the lost to christ'.

But remember that you cannot do anything to save someone except proclaim the word as the bible says 'faith comes by hearing, and hearing the word of God' (Romans 10:17). For this reason it would be good if you learnt the scriptures below.

Matthew 19:16-19- And someone came to Him and said, “Teacher, what good thing shall I do that I may obtain eternal life?” 17 And He said to him, “Why are you asking Me about what is good? There is only One who is good; but if you wish to enter into life, keep the commandments.” 18 Then he said to Him, “Which ones?” And Jesus said, “You shall not commit murder; You shall not commit adultery; You shall not steal; You shall not bear false witness; 19 Honor your father and mother; and You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”

John 8:34- Jesus answered them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, everyone who commits sin is the slave of sin.

Romans 2:14-15- 14 For when Gentiles who do not have the Law do instinctively the things of the Law, these, not having [c]the Law, are a law to themselves, 15 in that they show the work of the Law written in their hearts, their conscience bearing witness and their thoughts alternately accusing or else defending them

Revelation 21
:8- But for the cowardly and unbelieving and abominable and murderers and immoral persons and sorcerers and idolaters and all liars, their part will be in the lake that burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.

1 John 4:10-
In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins.

Acts 16:31- They said, “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, you and your household.”

John 3:16- For God so loved the world, that He gave His [a]only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.

John 3:5- 5 Jesus answered, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.

Hebrews 12:2- fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Hebrews 10:25- not forsaking our own assembling together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another; and all the more as you see the day drawing near.

Romans 10:17- So faith comes from hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ.

What are some things that I could use to open there eyes more? Am I missing something here? I need more lead way to help bring these people to Jesus

It sounds to me like you've made your views more than available to them. You can't force someone to open their eyes. They have to want it. And it sounds like they don't. If they are asking you things, by all means, answer them. But unless they are practically chasing you down for christian-like answers, I don't see any reason to be preachy to these people. They will probably resent you for it instead of listen.

Depends whether they are Christian or non Christian.

If they are Christian - call them to repent. If they believe the bible they know it is wrong and are just convincing themselves otherwise.

If they aren't Christian - don't bother. There is no reason to keep sex for marriage. Might as well have the fun now. You'll need to convert them generally. :) Of course if the topic comes up state your opinion, but you know.

One of the biggest reasons people choose not to believe in God is that if they admit there is a God, they also must admit that they are not living His way. It's not that they are opposed to God, just the things that He tells us to do (or more specifically, what not to do).

Convincing someone to wait for sex is very difficult because it's one of the things that drives them. There are no number of words you can say to convince someone, but your actions will speak loudly. The most unlikely people will be changed by how you conduct yourself as a Christian woman. Don't be afraid to tell people about your commitment to purity, but don't try to convince them either. Just tell them and leave it at that. For the elect few, those people will remember you sometime down the road and want what you have in Christ.

Laela, honestly, the best way to witness to your friends is by learning about God and what He wants through reading the Bible, studying with other Christians, and through prayer. As a result of knowing God, your life will begin to change (which I know it has already). Not only will it change, you will be consistent in your walk. And that's the key, being consistent. I don't know what you were like before. But I do know that many people have a tendency to run from one high to the next big high, and your friends may think you are doing the same thing. The only way they'll begin to believe that there is more to this with you, is when they find you are staying consistent, not changing.

So, to put it in a nut shell.

It's not just sex. Any intimate action requires a certain amount of risk, whether that be physical or emotional.

1. Pre-marital medical checkups are common practice and often expected. There are plenty of reasons for this.
2. Having sex with a partner who has cold sores can result in genital herpes. Yes, I understand what it requires for the transition from cold sores to genital herpes; please refrain from explaining.
3. There are both male and female players, and they play for different reasons. Just because you both participate in an intimate act doesn't mean you know your partner intimately. However, they do know you intimately now, and you are at a potential player's mercy.
4. Some men are territorial. This doesn't mean that their love for you vanishes if you've had premarital sex, but it can cause problems if they find out that you have intimately belonged to multiple partners in the past. And this requires patience.
5. Waiting is the sexiest form of foreplay.

In the end, it's just better to know the person intimately before you participate in an intimate act. Sometimes this requires more time than one would expect.

ask for God via the Holy Ghost to not only live in you now through you. For it is only God's word that penetrates, be ready in season and out of season. trust for God to give you the right words at the right time with such logic that none of your opponents can reply. Matthew 10 a good read about this trust.
Just food for thought Sister anbd congradulations on belief
