the purpose is for matured christians who have different opinion on christian issues to have a platform to put their opinion. Your good self could be the moderator if you wish.

if you're looking for debate, try the Bible discussion or Christian news forums
 
This idea has already been posted repeatedly. My understanding is the Admins do not want a forum dedicated to Debate because the risk of it becoming too much to moderate. As it is, without a debate forum, the Mods are kept busy with reports of behaviors from debates, to create an area for that would only generate more heat for people to become nasty.
