Just for the record, the name of our Abba, Father is ובכן in Hebrew, and Yah as transliterated to English, with the full English name being Yahuah, which sounds like Yahuwah.

so God wants us to call him father, daddy, abba, yah? do you think it really matters to him?

i mean lets get serious.

should we act like pharisees, or children of God on our knees talking to our pappa? Thats what I called my dad, to show reverence to him, because I loved him.

You do not think I do?

Again, God has many names. Calling out only his hebrew name is not somethign special. or somethign that will get you brownie points, Although some of the poeple in here need all the brownie points they can get so they can get to heaven (according to their belief system) it still will make them no more holy or loved than anyone else who is his child. Who calls him by his english, or french, or greek name.

God is a personal God. not an impersonal God. That is the pagan Gods.

Once again, not implying anything there, as we all should be seeking to give glory, honor and praise to His name.

That's understandable, as for we were raised up believing things the way we were taught.
Do you not know how to unlearn the ways of the world that we might learn His ways?

I was brought up believing on the names you speak of all the way to this year, where I looked deeper, seeking His face, and more light was revealed to me as a result.

He is a keeper of His promises. The more you seek of Him, the more He will reveal himself to you.

amen.. And he will keep those promises. Whether you call him YHWH, Yeheshua, Yahweh, Pappa, Daddy, Abba, Father, or whatever you call him.

[SUP]52 [/SUP]Woe unto you, lawyers! For ye have taken away the key of knowledge. Ye entered not in yourselves, and them that were entering in, ye hindered.”

Luke 11:52. Any thoughts on this verse? Is the Name perhaps the key of knowledge?

Does it matter? Hmm, let's see...

Third commandment of the Ten Commandments.
Repeated instances of
Hallow His name
Call on His name
Bless His name
Believe on the name
and probably a lot more I can't even think of right now...

YES! It matters a whole lot!

YES, Karraster, of course I care. And I DO want to learn more..if you even read my post, what I said is it's difficult when SO MANY names are used for God. Especially those in foreign languages. Sorry but I'm NOT learning Hebrew or Greek just to understand those names. There's no reason why people here can't refer to him as God, Lord, or Jesus for those of us who don't understand other languages. All the more power to those who are hungry to know him but stop confounding the rest of us!!

not to mention. what the world must think they look like.

it is one thing if you grew up in that language, (I grew up in king jimmy speak and understood it well, until I changed to a new king jimmy, now when I read the king jimmy, I am like WHAT??)

if I was a non believer and someone came to give me the gospel and mixed languages, I would call them a holier than thou religious nutcase! (just being honest) the gospel message would not even get through, because I would be to weirded out by the way they are talking, trying to act all religious and stuff

what?

Your not sitting out steak my friend.. If anything it would be milk to learn our dad's name

I like steak...especially a nice big fat porterhouse or ribeye on the grill....and I will go in prayer to the Heavenly Father in the name of Jesus and thank him for it and ask his blessings upon it and then hammer it with a baked potato and salad!

This is exactly true. In fact, I believe it is somewhere in Acts that one was being tried for doing the same... speaking the name of Yah.

The same can be expected today, and to get even worse as we get closer to His return.

ok, now I have heard everything.

WOW, JUST WOW!

You are constantly laying down rules for other people and I am so glad I don't worship you. That's how religious leaders act, always making up rules..but when one obeys and worships the One True Almighty, they are free, free from circus people that keep adding hoops to jump thru, ring after ring of circus hoops. Following Messiah is not a religion, it's a life choice.

I am not laying down a rule. I am just telling you the truth, IT FREAKS PEOPLE OUT WHEN YOU DO THAT.

I know all those names, and when I see people use it like they do IT MAKES ME SICK TO MY STOMACH

Probably like the pharisees and all their glorious religious words and says sickened Christ. and they could not see it, And hated on CHrist because he called them out!

You're awesome! Haven't had much time to read this thread yet, tho I will..YaH willing. Thanks brother and carry on. I love His Name, and want to know more!

What got me thinking on it was about a year ago, that verse about calling on His Name..and I didn't know what it was I'm ashamed to say. So I ask Him to show me...it's been a joyful learning experience ever since. I'm sure you know, our Father always gives us way more than we deserve or can even think to ask for. We are a little bit awesome, created in His image. He is a whole lot AWESOME!

I am glad I may have been of any help to you in drawing you closer to Him with any words I may have spoken, that simply means He has put me in the right place at the right time to do His will, so the glory is not mine, but His.

Thank you, maxwel. But I'm not gonna derail this thread further.. Karraster obviously doesn't understand the point I'm trying to get across. :)

she is one of those that if you disagree with her, she goes postal on you. I am used to her tactics by now. Just let them go in one ear and out the other, do not let her bother you. You have every right to state you opinion. Whether they like it or not is of no concern.

God has many names in the Bible.
Isaiah 9:6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.
There are many others too listed in the Bible...

His name shall NOT be called: buddha, shiva, satan, jupiter, apollo or whatever such.
These names do not save, only His name does. And name is more than a verbal name. His name represents identity of His and His glory: like Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace, etc.
I call God Yah or Yahweh often but I also call Him these other Biblical names or something that personally means to me and gives Him glory and thanks. One thing is liking and favoring His name in Hebrew. But if you are saying that somebody calling Jesus "Jesus" and not calling His name strictly in Hebrew is not going to be saved, then sorry, I have to say that this is one more legalistic cult...

thank you, I tried to show this earlier, maybe they will hear you.

I don't believe YHWH is the name of God in the same way Barack Obama is the name of the president. Since YHWH means "I am" or "I am that I am", I think YHWH is more than a name, it's an expression of who or what God is: He IS. Unlike us, he is the existence itself and beyond existence. To think that YHWH is the proper name of God (like Jupiter was the name of a roman god) is, in my opinion, to limit God.

again, Thank you. This is what I was saying earlier.

;)THANK GOD I have an English bible!! lol :)

God is a personal God. he wants to talk to you in your language, and you to talk to him in YOUR LANGUAGE.

He is not going to get mad if you do not call him by some foriegn tongue you can not understand.
now would he force or get mad even if you did understand what it means.

I am not laying down a rule. I am just telling you the truth, IT FREAKS PEOPLE OUT WHEN YOU DO THAT.

Oh yes Im sure Christ hated it when they used "all those names".... lol

He actually yelled at them about it:

Mattithyah 23:39, "For I say to you: From this moment you will not see Me, until you say: Blessed is He Who comes in the Name of Yahweh!"

Why because they would not say the name of Yah...

But am I considered a evil pharisee in this matter because I AGREE WITH the Messiah?

So in all of those instances. Does God tell you to call you by his hebrew name only? Or does he care if you use his name in your own language.
