delete threads

It would be nice to be able to delete your own thread, and have abilities to close it. There has been times I wrote the title wrong or I want able to fix a statement in a thread before I lost the change option timing. I understand administrators and moderators can, but before I asked to delete a thread and my request was cancelled....kinda bothers me lol :)
 
They don't want people to be able to delete threads. Threads contain posts by others. Not just yourself. It wouldn't be right to be able to delete everyones posts because you didn't take a few extra seconds to think about what you're saying, check your spelling, etc...
It also prevents trolls from being able to post things and delete them before mods can get the evidence of it.

Also, the ability to close threads would give people the power to post, and not allow responses. This is a forum designed to have people interact. Giving people the power to not allow people to respond and react to posts limits the basic concept of forums.
 
Well actually I more likely meaning deleting it before anyone posts, so it won't be unfair though. Because maybe you got the wrong thread in the wrong forum. Maybe what I meant was having a time limit on whether you should keep the thread or not right after you make it and when someone replies you lose power over whether it should be deleted, so like a quicky thing! :)
 
I'm not sure, but i think you do have a 5 minute window to delete the post. I know when i have made response posts i had 5 minutes to delete my response. Don't see why it also wouldn't work on a new post.
This change likely won't happen. The time limits and restrictions are given for specific reasons, which have been mentioned in countless other posts on similar topics.
