I'm new to green smoothies, and discovered it is just a banana shake with spinach leaves. How can I make the spinach taste good enough to swallow without turning it into a dessert? I'm trying to avoid sugar, including fruit. Are there any experienced green smoothie makers out there?

Every smoothie needs either a banana or an avocado for proper texture. If you just do vegetables it will be too runny. I never make one without at least a banana. My favorite is a banana, an orange, and either spinach or kale. Lots and lots of leaves, way more than the recipe might say. Most recipes say 1 cup -- I use three cups of greens. Also, put in ice cubes when you grind it all up

what blender do you use? I have a blendtec and LOVE it!

extra greens taste much better, but if you are going to have green smoothies every day, steam the veggies first if they are in the cabbage family (spinach, most dark leafy greens, i think kale too) as they have a compound in them that slows down your thyroid which you definitely don't want unless yours is overactive! Cooking them reduces the compound to safe levels.

Also best to soak the chia in 4x the amount of water before adding to smoothie
