In high school I was an athlete. When running the courts and running the fields I'd always be out of breath when my teammates weren't. Finally, after my first child was born in 1989 I had a diagnosis, it was asthma. In 2005 my condition worsened and I was diagnosed with COPD caused by second hand smoke. A few months later I was placed on oxygen at night. Less than a year after that I graduated to continuous oxygen. This past July 2011, I saw a different doctor. My oxygen saturation levels weren't in the upper 70's anymore, they were in the mid to upper 90's! He took me off the day time oxygen and performed a night time oxygen saturation test. Again the test was good. At the end of July I was taken completely off of oxygen. I moved to another state and have recently found a new pulmologist. She had me go through a battery of tests. I went back to see her this past week. She told me that not only did the tests not show the COPD but they did not even show a hint of asthma! She had one more test for me to perform, a chest CT, and that was to be done on March 5. I ended up having to see the doctor unexpectedly this weekend so they did the chest CT then. It came back clear! There's no hint of scarring or anything.
I just praise God that he can heal people from some of the worst diseases and make them whole again. If it wasn't for God, this 43 year old mother of 3 would've been lucky to see her future grandchildren graduate high school. God is so good!
