It comes again in the night hour
it's effects, they do overpower
my peace, it take
my heart, it aches
why must, my poor soul, it devour?

sleep, it never ceases to deprive
it never even lets me take five
or three, or one
my joy undone
often I wonder "will I survive?"

It hits the weakest link in my chain
Incessantly inflicting great pain
Depression stings
No hope it brings
God, please my spirit, will you sustain?

As a nearly 25 year sufferer of depression i can relate. Thi is good.

Thank you, I put my heart into this one.

I see a little typo though.

Third line "My peace, it *takes"

I absolutely can not wait to see Jesus face to face. When he takes my depression away for good, along with everything else I suffer with.

Won't it be spectacular? :)
That's one thought I can try to focus on that takes the edge off the pain.

What do you do to help take the edge off?

Take the edge off? Hmm... i think i'm just so accustomed to the feeling that i don't feel the edge much unless i get a strong bout of it hitting me. And when that happens i usually just wallow and get consumed until it passes. Or if its not Too strong i just try to distract. I find i'm naturally introspective and if given too much time to be this way it really fuels my depression. So i have to learn to occupy my mind and limit my time thinking much and being introspective as i have self esteem issues that compound the depression.

The answer to depression is always worship...and is the hardest thing to start when in the depths of it. But, we can do all things with His help.
