The statement of Deuteronomy 18:18 is fulfilled by Jesus.

Notice these verses:
Ac 3:22 - For Moses truly said to the fathers, 'The Lord your God will raise up for you a Prophet like me from your brethren. Him you shall hear in all things, whatever He says to you.
Ac 3:23 - And it shall be that every soul who will not hear that Prophet shall be utterly destroyed from among the people.'

johnpaul,

the answer it not up for negotiation. Peter an inspired apostle said so and it was recorded under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit.

Jesus is the ONLY possible biblical answer to the fulfillment of Deuteronomy 18:18.

I totally disagreed that deuteronomy 18:18 refers to Jesus(peace be upon him). For the prophesy to be Jesus he have to be like Moses(pbuh) according to deuteronomy 18:18"I WILL RAISE UP FOR THEM A PROPHET LIKE YOU(MOSES)FROM AMONG THEIR BRETHREN,AND WILL PUT MY WORDS IN HIS MOUTH<AND HE SHALL SPEAK TO THEM ALL THAT I COMMAND HIM.Now lets see if Moses(pbuh) is like Jesus(pbuh) or someonelse..............(pbuh)
1.Moses had a Father and a Mother ,but Jesus had only a Mother ,and no human father,if this is true, therefore Moses is like Jesus but someonelse..............(pbuh)
2.Moses(pbuh) was born in the normal, natural course.i.e the physical association of man and woman;Jesus(pbuh) was created by a special miracle. If this is true, therefore Moses(pbuh) is not like Jesus but someonelse..........(pbuh)
3.Moses(pbuh) was married and begot children, but Jesus(pbuh) remained a bachelor all his lifetime. If this is true, therefore Moses is not like Jesus(pbuh) but someonelse...........(pbuh)
4.Moses(pbuh) was accepted as a prophet by his people in his lifetime. No doubt the Jews gave him endless trouble and even murmured in the wilderness, but as a nation, they acknowledged Moses (pbuh)was a messenger of God sent to them. But according to the Bible'He (Jesus)came unto his own ,but his own received him not'.(John 1:11)And even today after 2000 years ,his people -The Jews ,as a whole ,have rejected him.If this is true ,therefore Moses is not like Jesus(pbuh) but someonelse............(pbuh)
5.Moses(pbuh) brought new laws and new regulations for his people.Moses(pbuh) not only gave the Ten Commandments to the Israelites, but a very comprehensive ceremonial law for the guidance of his people. As regards to Jesus ,when the Jews felt suspicious of him that he might be an imposter with designs to pervert their teachings,Jesus(pbuh) took pains to assure them that he had not come with a new religion-no new laws and no new regulations.Quoting his own words:'I AM NOT THAT I AM COME TO DESTROY THE LAW ,OR THE PROPHETS:I AM NOT COME TO DESTROY BUT TO FULFIL.FOR VERILY I SAY UNTO YOU,TILL HEAVEN AND EARTH PASS,ONE JOT OR ONE TITLE SHALL IN NO WISE PASS FROM THE LAW,TILL ALL BE FULFILLED.'(Mathew 5:17-18).In short Jesus(pbuh) created no new religion and had no new law like Moses. If this is true, then Moses is not like Jesus but someonelse.......(pbuh)
6.Moses(pbuh) died a natural death, but according to Chritianity ,Jesus(pbuh) was violently killed on the cross. If this is true therefore Moses is not like Jesus but someonelse..............(pbuh)
7.Moses(pbuh) lie buried in earth, but according to Christianity Jesus(pbuh) is in heaven,so Moses not like Jesus but someonelse...................(pbuh)
8.Moses(pbuh) fought in battles against the enemies but Jesus(pbuh) never fought any battles against the enemies. If this is true Moses(pbuh) is not like Jesus(pbuh) but someonelse..........(pbuh)
9.Moses(pbuh) started prophethood at age 40 while Jesus(pbuh) started his at 30.
10.Moses(pbuh) didn't have to die for the sins of the world but according to Christianity 'Jesus(pbuh) died for the sins of the World'
11.Moses(pbuh) is not God,but according to Christianity 'Jesus is a God'.
12.According to christianity 'Jesus(pbuh) went to hell for three' days, but Moses did not have to go there.
13.Moses(pbuh) was raised by other people other than his own parents,Jesus(pbuh) was raised by his Mother.
In conculusion Deuteronomy 18:18 refers to someonelse other than Jesus(pbuh).Am waiting for your rebutalls then i will tell you who this someonelse(pbuh) is and lay down proven evidence that the prophesy deuteronomy fits him like a glove.Peace be with all of you.I rest my case.PBUH stands for peace be upon him.

It can't be speaking of Mohammed because he was never a part of God's people.

That referes to Jesus, the word Prophet is captialized which means a aperson of divine orgian.

Anytime a personal pronoun is captalized it means God.

johnpaul... you are ignoring the inspired text of the NT where an Apostle explicitly applies the prophecy to Jesus. Jesus was the last prophet of ancient Israel before the Covenant was changed.

Moses did not say or imply that every detail of his life would be similar or parallel. He said the one would be a PROPHET like him... a law giver... a deliverer... Jesus was all that and more.

Moses was the tribe of Levi of the seed of Jacob (ie, Israel) of the seed of Abraham.

Muhammed was not of the seed of Jacob. Muhammed is not an Israelite. Jesus was one of their brethren. Muhammed is not.

Asalaam Alaikum JohnPaul,

I suggest you post the full text of Deuteronomy, and alllow the words of God to speak so that man's mouths may be silenced.

If you wish to discuss the things of God, I would also call upon you to pray first that the God of all creation, of Abraham and Isaac, be present to guide us in wisdom and understanding.

Might I mention that the Koran also tells Muslims that the words of the Bible (the Old and New Testament; the Taurat and the Zabuur, and the Injil) are from God. The teachings that they are corrupted and false is actually not found in the Koran, but in a Muslim interpreter who could not understand how the Koran and the Bible could be contradictory.

If we find the words of God to contradict our understanding, then who is at fault? is it God's word that is flawed, or our understanding?

Regarding Deuteronomy, it is interesting to note the next lines after what JohnPaul posted:

I will raise up for them a prophet like you from among their brothers; I will put my words in his mouth, and he will tell them everything I command him. If anyone does not listen to my words that the prophet speaks in my name, I myself will call him to account.

But a prophet who presumes to speak in my name anything I have not commanded him to say, or a prophet who speaks in the name of other gods, must be put to death."

You may say to yourselves, "How can we know when a message has not been spoken by the LORD?" If what a prophet proclaims in the name of the LORD does not take place or come true, that is a message the LORD has not spoken. That prophet has spoken presumptuously. Do not be afraid of him. (Deuteronomy 18:18-22)

Jesus, may His peace be forever with us, prophesied many things, among them that he would rebuild the Temple in 3 days, and all that he prophesied has or will come to pass. If you are Muslim, you accept this as well, because you accept Isa Massi as a prophet.

If Mohammed (pbuh) is a prophet, what has he prophesied that has come to pass? If nothing, then what does the word of God have to say upon that? You who are in submission to God must conform to what God has written. Have no fear of the prophet who does not speak the words of God.

...many false prophets will appear and deceive many people. (Matthew 24:11)

This speaking of Jesus as the writer of Hebrews explains.
Hebrews 2
16 For verily he took not on him the nature of angels; but he took on him the seed of Abraham.
17 Wherefore in all things it behoved him to be made like unto his brethren, that he might be a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make reconciliation for the sins of the people.
18 For in that he himself hath suffered being tempted, he is able to succour them that are tempted

He doesn't think that the prophet is Mohammed. JohnPaul is Jewish and is also know as ''Dontneedchrist''. I guess they wouldn't allow that nic in here. But is M.O. gave him away. ;)
