Another random clause from the dictionary I'm writing.

====== Name ======

Note that God created all living creatures, but let Adam name them. By naming things, man confesses to know these things and discern good from evil. Language did change and gained a lot of new content with the fall, but what stayed it that names are given by discerning identities of the things that are named, which is discerning the spirits that house them. For this reason since the fall, naming means to discern good and evil as well. We give nicknames to our friends because we know them so well. It is nececcary to know in order to name. In opposition, calling people names is an attempt to make others believe they are stupid, unwanted, ugly - or otherwise strip them of their true identity by forcing the false one upon them. Naming always has to do with identity.

In the Bible, when a child is born, parents name the child by how it revealed its character in travail already or how the child came into the world (Jacob in Gn 25:26 named so because he came after his brother, Moses in Ex 2:10 named so because he was drown out of the water), or they name the child as led when they know child is appointed by God for something (Moab in Gn 19:37 - Moab means "beautiful land" - his tribe later did own a beautiful land that was promised to him and his descent by his name. Ruth was a Moabite, whose bloodline Jesus came from, so Moab's name points forward to the beautiful land of Kingdom of God! Isaac in Gn 14:19, God appoints this name). Sometimes it is what parents see in the child (Adam and Eve saw the purpose in Seth to replace his murdered brother and comfort them, Gn 4:25) and this kind of naming reflects that God calls us such as He sees us too, and He knows our true identity and sees us beautifully, as His children and inheritors (Jn 11:52). Because of this spirit discerning aspect, usually it is a few causes for the name at the same time, per example Moses was literally drawn out of muddy waters of Nile, which has to do with promise of God to spiritually pull the believers out of "miry and deep waters" (Ps 18:16, Ps 69:2), as well as literally pull the people of Israel out of the muddy banks of Nile where they were working for Egyptians.

Some names are gained later, by achievements or conduct, these titles become a part of one's identity or completely new identity. They can range from "Friend of God" that Abraham gained by believing God, to negative as "Accuser" or "Murderer". The devil was not always accuser and murderer, but he became that which he is now through his conduct. For this reason it is nececcary for us to be given a new name so we can live, and Jesus promises to give us the new names in Rv 2:17. New names are our new identities, or renewed spirits. For God, who you are determines you rather than what you did. The faith without works is dead because sinful lifestyle gives us (literally) a bad name, it deviates from our true identity in Him.

Similar to currency that describes the value of gold but is not gold itself, name is describing the identity or meaning or spirit, being communicable substitute for the identity or meaning or spirit itself. For this reason we will be held accountable for using God's name in vain and every vain word. We are though encouraged to call upon the name of the Lord. This does not mean to mention His name nonstop - this means to believe Him and that salvation comes from Him, and to seek this salvation.

Astronomers almost always give stars and other heavenly bodies names of pagan gods or they give them dead names, robotically generated, consisting of letters and numbers. This reflects the idolatry and worship of the beast that is going on in the world at this time. Notice that man did not originally name stars or heavenly bodies. God did. This is so the Word of God would not be broken. He gives names to the host of heaven because the Host of Heaven spiritually is not just His angels, it is even us, and He knows our true identity and calls us by name as His children. We are meant to inhabit Kingdom of Heaven and to shine His light, just like stars do in the physical world, God wants us to give the light to those that are in darkness throughout the spiritual world (Lk 1:79); men are also called stars or as stars, either in a good or a bad sense (Jude 1:13, Dan 12:3, Neh 9:23). Even after the fall, after we gave ourselves a "bad name" with bad conduct, we are invited into Heaven and He wants to give us new names, else we cannot enter in there. If man was the first (or final) one to name the inhabitants of heaven, God would be denied as Creator (or Redeemer) of men.

Adam named his wife Eve. Her name is proclaimed when their marriage covenant is made (Gn 2:23-24). This was also in order to keep Scripture true. It is supposed to reflect the covenant that Christ has with the Congregation of saints. As Adam gave name to Eve, Christ gives new names to us all, because we are now of him and part of Body of Christ.
