The word says;
Isaiah 54:17

If you are trying to serve the living God...You have nothing to fear.
Ask God for forgiveness!
Stay in His protection by knowing Him and who He is by reading the Word.

Easy for you to say. I found this technique doesn't work. Funny, no matter how many well meaning christian tell me this it still doesn't work for anyone I know.
When we repent and ask God to forgive us of our sins, it doesn't mean we have to "feel" it in order for the process to be complete. The bible says we are to believe and then carry on as though it is done. The problem is we let our feelings drag us down and rely on them more than the Word of God. This is our problem. When we start to carry more weight on what we know rather than what we feel, then and only then do we see a difference in our lives for the better. For IF we begin to believe in the Word as it tells us too, to really stand and live it, then our attitude, our lives and our circumstances will change for the better. We will no longer be discouraged and allow the pitty and condemnation that Satan tells us to weigh on us. Instead, Gods Word will lift us up and we also can encourage and lift others as well. This is what you call a growing christian.
We all make mistakes. But there is a big difference between condemnation and chastisement/correction. Condemnation is when a law or rule we have broken (now called sin) has been so harshly made known to us that it never helps or lifts us out of the pit but tries to keep us there through constant humiliation, and the feeling of being beaten and interrogated accompanied with painful negative remarks lowers our self esteem.
But chastisement/correction is when God who loves us is trying to help us overcome the sin by showing us the mistake in its fulness so we can omit from doing it again. He also helps us by edifying us and encouraging us in the process. This is the huge difference between these two. We should always take correction with a good attitude knowing it is because God loves us and wants to help us become more like Him in the end. We should want this too.
For me personally, I do want to be more like Christ so I want to do what ever is necessary to make this happen. I'm a lot older now and when your 50 like me you realize you made a lot of mistakes and so you want to do what ever you can to make the later part of your life easier. In saying this, i have used this technique, and it has worked tremendously! God is very faithful. He does work in His time though, which means, we cant give Him a time card and say i except it done at this set time and i want it this way or else? It doesn't work that way. God works all things in His time and the funny thing about Gods time is, it never comes too soon, or too late. Its always exactly right.
I am thankful for every single thing He has done for me, including all of those times i had to wait, and the trials i had to endure and the strength and faith i gained. They taught me a lot of things. I am still learning too, as i have a long way to go. But i know i will have many chances left as my perfection is certainly not reached. But God is a gracious God. He knows i am so imperfect, and so i need many chances again and again until i can come up higher. That is why the scriptures say we are given new grace every day. I think personally its because i used up all the old grace from the day before. God is so wonderful. Just like the Manna... He provided for all our needs then, now.. and in the future too... For God will always be God..we can count on Him always.
So don't worry about "feeling" if you are forgiven, or feeling about anything.. just do the right thing. We are told to believe... Period. We are not told to feel. If we believe and let our belief (talk) begin and let it take effect,(walk) soon our feelings will carry up with our belief, but we cant give up. We must be persistent and it does get easier. So now for all of you who says it doesn't work and you know of know one to whom this works, you can now say you do! For i am one...
Acts 16:31 They replied, believe in the Lord Jesus and you will be saved, along with everyone in your household.
! Keep your faith and do not fear, only believe!. And no! God didn't leave you!, your sin separates you from God, the way to come back to God is repentence! REPENT WITH ALL YOU HAVE WITH TRUE SORROW! and He might have forgiveness upon you! But remember what Jesus said to the harlot that was accused! Yahweh said, "Go, and sin no more!"
