Did you already take your cross?

• Luk 9:23 -> “And he said to all, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me.”.

But what does it mean “take up his cross”?

• Deu 21:22,23 -> “ “And if a man has committed a crime punishable by death and he is put to death, and you hang him on a tree, his body shall not remain all night on the tree, but you shall bury him the same day, for a hanged man is cursed by God. You shall not defile your land that the LORD your God is giving you for an inheritance.”.
• Gal 3:13 -> “Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us—for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who is hanged on a tree”—".

Note that everybody who was put on the stake (or tree, as in this version), was a cursed by God. It is not in vain that Jesus was crucified:

• 1Pe 2:21 -> “For to this you have been called, because Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example, so that you might follow in his steps.”.
• 1Pe 2:24 -> “He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. By his wounds you have been healed.”

And observe that Jesus left an example to be followed. And Paul followed it:

• 1Co 15:31 -> “I protest, brothers, by my pride in you, which I have in Christ Jesus our Lord, I die every day!”.
• Gal 2:20 -> “I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.”.
• Gal 6:14 -> “But far be it from me to boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world.”.

And we need to do this:

• Rom 8:36 -> “As it is written, “For your sake we are being killed all the day long; we are regarded as sheep to be slaughtered.”

So, have a good day being denying all your interests and being ready to die for love of Jesus’ name as if you were a criminal (Mat 10:39). Only thus you will be apt to follow Him until the heaven.
