The bible makes it clear that we are not to tattoo our bodies since we are the temple of the Holy Spirit. It would be like a painter coming to your church and painting it when it was already painted as a masterpiece just as God wanted you. Now I of course dont think its worse then any other sin but it is a permanent one unless you have it lazered off.

*sigh* this can't be stressed enough, people, look it up, do some research...tattoo is man made word first of all. Secondly, back then, it was a pagan thing. They cut the body open, and poured ashes of the dead inside. They prayed to false gods and to the dead, in hope for blessings in life and the afterlife. They did things that were harmful to their body, and they did it not to glorify God. I have 4 tattoos, and I don't feel convicted at all, I never have. In fact, I said it on another thread, and I'll say it again. I felt God tell me what tattoo's to get. 3 are Christian ones, and the other is in memory of my aunt. It's a dolphin. Nothing bad at all about them. Now if something's against God, and it's dark, or evil or something...I can see that the meaning is wrong, possibly even the tattoo itself. Other wise, there's nothing wrong with them. I get the chance to minister to others, when they notice mine. I don't flash them off though.

One word "CONVICTION"! The last time I checked noone on this site was my Judge or my Saviour. I have 6 tattoos(soon to be 7)there is not a thing wrong with them in my eyes, and thats what matters. If you are not convicted then go for it.If you feel God would not like it then don't do it.Its not rocket science people. I jus think its funny for people to get on here and judge others with no logic or evidence of scripture to back it up. Your walk with God is your walk. Just as my walk with God is mine. We have to decide what is important in our life. Its noone elses decision. GB!

TheJesusFreak1990: Hi! they CAN BE AND ARE USED for ministering, witnessing, testifying, etc. it's awesome! brings so much honor, praise, thanks, and glory to God!

BillyTheKid: THANK YOU! Exactly what I've been telling everyone. You aren't Christ, don't you dare judge! He hasn't ever convicted me of my tattoos, so I'd say it's fine. Maybe they aren't for some people, okay fine, we respect that, and how they feel about it. Just do the same for us, respect that we have them, and that we don't have a problem with them, nor have we been convicted of them! You know how people are though, they go looking for things to pick out about others, so they have in their mind a 'justified reason' to judge. Well we can't judge a person, but we can bare their fruit! Lastly, our fleshly body doesn't enter heaven, cause it's what sins. We shall have a glorified body like Christ, so the tattoos won't be in heaven!

God bless both of you!

Jesus got his old body back, but glorified, scars and all. Our fleshly body doesn't get destroyed for ever, it gets resurrected and then gets glorified.

hmm, how many people has your tattoo's saved? I can see it now, a sinner comes up to you, you flash your arm with John 3:16 tattooed onto it with a nice picture, a bright shining light beams down from heaven, they fall down on their face and say "glory, glory, your tattoo is so wonderful, I must become a Christian!" *smirk*.

The tattoo's don't save, no one ever said that. Secondly, you have no right to get a smart attitude about things. You need to chill and lose that attitude. Why don't you worry about and ask yourself, how many have you lead to Christ. Worry about yourself, not others.

Quite a few, without tattoos too ;) A bare hairy forearm can have the same effect as your tattoos, under the right circumstances, and I won't have any ugly sagging pictures on my body when I get older either lol.

so what, doesn't matter you miss the point. Tattoo's are just part of a ministry for some. Not for all. There's a reason for all of mine. You worry about yourself, I'll worry about me. We aren't here to say oh lets see who can win more souls for the Lord...we're to work together as brothers and sisters in Christ.

yeah okay whatever. Where my tattoos are, won't sag. Besides, that wouldn't turn someone away from Christ. it's how you treat and speak with them, a nd what you say to them about Christ, and about the Bible. Anyhow, I'm done here...this is going no where.

why do people try to back up their sin by saying you cant judge me. Remember we are Christians and should be able to take advice from other Christians on their sins ,and tattoos are a sin the bible says not to decorate the body which is the temple of the Holy Spirit. Yet, you do need to recognize sin when you see it, because if you tell others a sin is ok to do then the other persons sins are also on your head the bible says. Love you God bless and call sin sin.

You guys really have no right to judge anyone. That's written in the Bible. Listen man days pass World changes. people changes, their fashion changes But The Value and Word of Christ never does. If by seeing a tattoo I can relate to non-Christians better and they listen to me better then I will get a Christian tattoo. Jesus came to the world as a MAN not as a GOD or super powered person. why?? so that we can relate to him better. And about the resurrecting of the new body?? Dont worry!! The world may not be able to remove a permanent tattoo but All powerful Jesus can. And He wont love me any LESS if I HAD A John 3:16 tattooed in my hand!! :p Go demoralize someone else!!

Tattoos are a turn off for both christians and most non-christians, christians who think getting a tattoo or a piercing or doing up their hair nice or drinking a beer will give them score points in evangelism really need to come to grips with reality. All you need to talk to non-christians is a sincere heart and a listening ear, the rest will follow. Once you are talking about spiritual matters, and their soul either going to heaven or hell, who really gives a stuff about your nice tattoo?
