Different news sources

So for the past 5 years I've been using CBN as my news source. Unfortunately since 2016 they become increasingly biased and has moved further and further right. I understand there are probably no unbiased news sources now but I would prefer one less blatantly obvious. I have belief that there biased may get in the way of their fact checking, not to mention how out of touch the article writers are with pop culture which sometimes leads to stereotypes and overzealous condemnation and the obvious fact they have no clue of what there talking about. (Look up there stories on video games, there hilariously tonedeaf and obvious the person writing hasn't touched a joystick since Pacman 😬) Not that pacman is bad as its definitely a classic. But that's not the point. Simply put does anyone know a less hypocritical source? I know that nothing's perfect and I do like cbn uplifting stories but I cant help but thinking there not giving you the full story or facts that you should know. I dont mind, If its Right Wing if it's fair in there fact checking. Liberal news sources I'd rather stay away from for obvious reasons.

If your bias is not blatantly obvious you won't have a fan base. People tune in to people who say what they want to hear. The more biased the news is - liberal AND conservative - the more people will listen to it.

I'm afraid you're not going to find any official news source any more that is NOT blatantly biased. Those wouldn't sell these days.

Modern man is staggering and losing his balance because he is being pelted with little pieces of alleged fact which are native to the newspapers; and, if they turn out not to be facts, that is still more native to newspapers.

Because I can't resist the opportunity for a good Chesteron quote, just shorten newspapers to news and it's quite accurate for being 100 years old.

Well that's unfortunate :/ It feels like reading the news is just another form of panic attacks for me. I never liked reading the news. It's more fear than it is curiosity. My ocd check list of things I must do every day. Its getting old.

They aren't in the business of reporting news. They're in the business of selling advertisements, and that requires having a fan base to watch the advertisements. So they have to report news people will pay attention to, or their advertisers won't pay them money.

So yeah, they make the news as sensational as possible and they slant it HEAVILY to whichever political bias they are targeting. If they just reported news they would lose fans and advertising revenue.

One other thing I do to help verify how reliable a news site is, is to look for some sort of about us page on the website. That usually gives you a pretty good idea of their bias and slant as well as how broad their news coverage is.

eg one I just found when I googled a newslike question on the about us link the mission statment blurb included Serious journalism and a desire to serve our communities is at the root of everything we do – and we’ve been doing it for more than 160 years (which I find interesting since the state they're located in has only been a state for 162 years) but I also see that inclusiveness is one of their values which makes me suspect a bit of a left leaning but not super slanted.

Also just flat out distrust inflammatory language and opinonated conclusions. And when all else fails, look up the same story in places of opposite bias and you might get close to the truth of what actually happened as well as the benefits and dangers of the implications.

My opinion on the subject is that the news media has become so biased to one direction in last several years to the point where it almost feels like you need something blantantly biased in the opposite direction to sort of "balance" the political spectrum. Personally I don't watch news but will browse through online sites just to see what is going on. I believe you are better off not watching the news these days.

I havent followed television news in years it's it feels even more corrupt if that's possible. I used to read both Washington post and cbn to kind of balance it out, but when Trump was elected there only concern was make him and the right look as bad as possible. I often wonder what they report now as Trump was there punching bag for so many years. Even if you disagree or dislike Trump the Washington Post just took it too far. They didn't care about news they wanted him out. Cbn seems to be toning down at times but than some "injustice" happens and it's full war again. For a platform that acknowledges Christian's will be persecuted they sure do make a big deal about it. First world issues mostly.

First of all, talking heads are people who could not make it in Hollywood, so they feed their egos with "journalism." And, it's all about appearance. Their use of grammar borders on malpractice and, often, they leave out important parts of the story so it fits their narrative. This is the same as lying.

If you find the same information on multiple sites, it's probably accurate and I don't have to listen to an inflated narcissist pontificate. And this whole thing of "balance." We should be seeking truth, NOT balance. Our Lord said the truth will set us free. Balance tends to muddy the water. My two cents

I'd gladly seek the truth. The issue is finding it and confirming it. As you said there is much narcissism involved. Sometimes I'd rather not read any of it, but I dont think living completely ignorant of societal issuses is beneficial for Christians.
