In Mark Chapter 6 verses 52 it says the disciples 'considered not' the miracle of the loaves: for their hearts were hardened'.
What is the meaning and connotation of this? It seems incredible that they were not impressed by the feeding of the 5000.
Mar 6:47 And when even was come, the ship was in the midst of the sea, and he alone on the land.
Mar 6:48 And he saw them toiling in rowing; for the wind was contrary unto them: and about the fourth watch of the night he cometh unto them, walking upon the sea, and would have passed by them.
Mar 6:49 But when they saw him walking upon the sea, they supposed it had been a spirit, and cried out:
Mar 6:50 For they all saw him, and were troubled. And immediately he talked with them, and saith unto them, Be of good cheer: it is I; be not afraid.
Mar 6:51 And he went up unto them into the ship; and the wind ceased: and they were sore amazed in themselves beyond measure, and wondered.
Mar 6:52 For they considered not the miracle of the loaves: for their heart was hardened.
When Jesus walked on water, and then He came into the ship, and the wind ceased, they were amazed that this happened, but why would they be amazed when Jesus multiplied bread, and fishes, for the people, which they should of known that He could do great miracles as if He did not do something great before that time of walking on the sea.
Despite being eyewitnesses to God's power in the parting of the Red Sea, the Israelites did not
trust God to help them conquer Canaan, so he set them wandering in the desert for 40 years until that generation was dead.
Why would they doubt God could deliver the people of Canaan in to their hands if they seen the miracle of the parting of the Red Sea.
Mar 8:17 And when Jesus knew it, he saith unto them, Why reason ye, because ye have no bread? perceive ye not yet, neither understand? have ye your heart yet hardened?
Mar 8:18 Having eyes, see ye not? and having ears, hear ye not? and do ye not remember?
Mar 8:19 When I brake the five loaves among five thousand, how many baskets full of fragments took ye up? They say unto him, Twelve.
Mar 8:20 And when the seven among four thousand, how many baskets full of fragments took ye up? And they said, Seven.
Mar 8:21 And he said unto them, How is it that ye do not understand?
They seen Jesus multiply bread, and fishes, so why would they cry they have no bread when Jesus can produce food.
