My roommates and I got into a discussion today about whether "discrete flirting" we'll call it, is creepy, cute, or just plain confusing and we need a guy's opinion!

Part 1:
You're sitting in a fairly crowded church when you look up and feel a cute girl staring at you from across the room. Glancing in her direction, your eyes lock before she smiles, blushes, and looks away. This happens with the same girl about once a sermon. Are you a.) confused by her behavior b.) intrigued by her c.) creeped out that she keeps looking at you?

Now how do you feel if she's not "cute"?

Part 2:
Cute church girl's glances are getting slightly more frequent and the eye contact is lasting a bit longer. You're finding yourself glancing in her direction even when you can't feel her eyes on you. You're starting to wonder if there's something there. Do you a.) scramble to catch her after church to strike up conversation b.) ignore the attraction--you're shy or c.) start thinking this girl is super creepy and you need to start attending another service before she starts stalking you?

Again, does your answer change if she's a troll of a girl?

If a girl is making quiet advances towards you, do you tend to know it? If she stares at you, or brushes your arm while you're talking? If she smiles at you a lot but is perhaps shy when it comes to making conversation? Do guys have any idea when these subtle hints are made or is it hopeless for the shy girls of the world? Hahaha Is attractiveness a factor in this?

Okay boys, opinions. Go!

Well, it depends.

I had a friend I was dating for a while back in the day. But before we started going out every time the Pastor would pronounce something strangely we would look at each other and smile it was like our thing.

To answer your situations... Part 1.

probably b) I like to know that people are on the same page with me about something. If its just the fact that I'm attractive I'm going to be a bit confused.

If she is a ''Troll'' as you put it, I would probably not look away but give her a '?' look.

Part 2) Probably A. I'm pretty good about getting to know people that I find intriguing. Actually I pretty much make it my mission.

The problem comes in when a lesser male gets protective or possessive when I approach her. Then I would need her to be a little proactive about making the slight interest mutual enough to have a conversation. Cause I don't want to be a jerk and I can't intuitively tell if someone is in a relationship and just being flirty.

Jullianna had a thread about this 2 guys interest concept a few months ago.

These scenarios involve tacit, mutual attraction/flirtation?

I'm out. In affairs of the heart, I shun women like the plague.

Getting hit on by girls feels strange, because I feel that I am supposed to be the peruser. BUT I DO like when the woman is responsive in some way (i.e.: Consistently smiling while locking eyes with me is a good hint).

Anyway, IF I notice this so called "discrete flirting"...

Parts 1: Could be a A situation because I'm kind of oblivious when it comes to socializing. I will have to go with B though since I noticed it in this scenario, in which case I would give her the inquisitive look regardless whether I am attracted to her or not.

Part 2: If I'm interested in her, I'll definitely make the effort to at least say "hi" after the service.

I'm not sure what you mean by "troll", but if she has that evil/sly look, I probably won't be interested in her. I would probably make an effort in kindly making sure we are both on the same page with things though... unless I'm really creeped out.

As for your last part, I guess I kind of answered that with my opening line. :) How attracted I am to her (and how well I know her/what I already know about her) definitely plays into what my response will be. I like shy girls, it's a cache 22 though because I'm shy myself! :(

shh.

1. Hmm.. I would have to def. say b.. Being that I am a single man and on the prowl, "arrg," my curiosity is now piqued..
If she is however of a lesser beauty the intrigue would remain yet perhaps of a smaller variety.

2. Without question I must choose A. I will make contact. Yet I believe to have already approached her without the necessity of prolonged eye to eye contact.. "This is just me being me..."
Troll or Cinderella, I must advance, simply because beauty has far more depth than a few layers of skin..

The answer to your final question is yes and yes.. Yes, it is obvious when an opposite attraction is flirting and yes, looks do have an influence to the degree in which I respond.. I personally do not base relationships off of outward appearances, however, it does influence the appeal..
