Are pastors made aware of which members are donating what… or is that kept separate in a church of 500 members.
Would it matter? Is it something forbidden?

Jesus sat and watched people donating and saw how much.

Pastors have access to who is donating if they want that information. Most churches, the donations go directly to the Pastor to use at their discretion i.e. paying their salaries, pastoral staff, rents etc. Its no coincidence the larger the congregation the higher price of homes the pastor has. I'm glad my church does use donations this way. Many pastors have lost their way over the donation tray.

To add, our giving to our church has no bearing on us, if that money is not used for its intended purposes, God knows our heart and theirs, nothing we can hide from Him and He loves a cheerful giver. Pray the money goes to good use, but if you see a lot of expensive jewelry, cars house etc. from your pastor and his wife you might consider a different church.

Meant to say, my church does "not" use donations this way. The Pastors are all paid on a modest salary regardless how large the congregation is.

My church has a specific time during the service where people can go off to the sides to put there money in a box or basket. People can give cash, checks or fill out an envelope if they want their offering to come straight from the bank. They can also give electronically.

Since the beginning of our church, our pastor's wife has collected the offering an done the books, and then sent out charitable giving letters at the end of the year for tax purposes. I've almost always filed for the tax deductions because I want the government to keep as little of the money I've earned as possible.

Hey Jacko, are you guys using any online giving or software to track who gives? I work with churches making sure they have all the right reports to understand the trends within their communities. Open to connecting?
