Do protestants have a reasonable non-Roman-Catholic explanation for John 20:22-23?

Where is it written that one full-time preacher is part of the pattern?
Oh boy.
The idea of a clergy is derived from the word "klero" which mean "a portion". It is derived from the word klaō which is connected to communion. It is often used in the context of inheritance like this passage (stay with me here):
Colossians 1:9-12
Paul is writing to the "...the saints and faithful brethren in Christ who are in Colosse"
And just to be clear "the saints" are those being sanctified by the Lord. Therefore, the following passage is written to ALL BELIEVERS in Colosse.
In verse 3 Paul writes:
"We give thanks to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, praying always for you..."
So thankfulness for the believers in Colosse is the impetus for his letter.
Paul continues and this next part is important:
For this reason (thankfulness) we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to ask that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding; that you may walk worthy of the Lord (further sanctification), fully pleasing Him, being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God; strengthened with all might, according to His glorious power, for all patience and longsuffering with joy; giving thanks to the Father who has qualified us to be partakers
Partakers of what?! Brace yourself...
"..of the inheritance of the saints in the light."
"Inheritance" is the Greek word klēros. (pronounced klay'-ros) derived from klaō.
This is root for the word for "clergy".
Here's the catch: all saints; all those in the Lord, are given a portion of grace, just as it is written here:
"But to each one of us grace was given according to the measure of Christ’s gift."
These gifts are for the support of priestly administration.
"But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people..."
Here's the kicker: If you say you are not a member of the clergy you are claiming to have no measure of grace from the Lord. You are a bastard, and God is not your Father.
How evil is a religious system that tells men they have no portion in Christ!
I was talking about John 20:21-23 abd Hebrew 5:1 in #25, why to throw me Colossians 1:9-12.
To show that all believers are included in the "clergy". There is no laity / clergy in the church only clergy.
John 15 verse 16 plus from 1 Peter 2 verse 9 ~ You did not choose Me, but I chose you. And I appointed you to go and bear fruit— fruit that will remain— so that whatever you ask the Father in My name, He will give you. You are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a people to proclaim the virtues of Him Who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light.

The idea of all believers are priests is not new. It was stated in the Old Testament:
Exodus 19:5–6
“Now therefore, if you obey my voice and keep my covenant, you shall be my treasured possession out of all the peoples. Indeed, the whole earth is mine, but you shall be for me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.”
Why Israelites still had to bring their animal sacrifice to the Levi priests to offer to God?
Why didn't they slaughter their own animal in the sacrifice?

So instead of a "kingdom of priests" only one tribe in 12 became the priests, the Levites. So the Israelites never obtained this promise either at Sinai or after.
So then Peter, by the revelation of the Holy Spirit, said this to the (mostly) Gentile believers in his letter:
"But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light..."
The promise was given to all believers in Christ.

You're using "church" like it's the original Greek.

The odd one out is English. The fifth century Cappadocian (central Turkey) Christians called their communities Kyriakos oikos (the Lord’s house). They had a major influence on the translation of the Bible into Gothic, an old east Germanic language. The Goths rendered Kyriakos oikos as ciric. In old English that became kerk, and then in English ‘church’ and in German Kirche.
The KJV translators used the familiar “kirche” to render the english “church”. The trouble with that was a kirche was a building. And so now we think nothing about saying “going to church” when we are the church, “the called out”. IMO this is a grievous error that led to a tradition of thinking contrary to the mind of Christ among the believers. Still, the KJV has value.
In fact, if you keep reading in Exodus 19, when you get down to verse 21 & 22, you will find God telling Moses to warn the people and the priests not to come onto the holy mountain, lest the Lord break out against them. So even in the very same chapter God is calling the whole nation a kingdom of priests, there is still a separate, ministerial priesthood.
You need to go back and read the full passage. The priests were separate from the people not numbered among them. And (I hope you're sitting down) they were not the Levites.

The passage clearly says that only specially consecrated priests among 'the kingdom of priests' can approach GOD.You need to go back and read the full passage. The priests were separate from the people not numbered among them. And (I hope you're sitting down) they were not the Levites.

That promise to be a kingdom of priests was conditioned upon Israel obeying God's voice. They didn't and broke the covenant around 40 days later. So that promise was deferred until a later time when the holy nation of priests was born from above at Pentecost. Now all of God's children are priests of God and have access to the holy place through Christ's blood.
But you are a chosen generation, a kingly priesthood, a holy nation, a peculiar people; that you should show forth the excellencies of him who has called you out of darkness into his marvellous light: 1 Peter 2:9
Numbers 16:
Korah, along with Dathan and Abiram from the tribe of Reuben gathered 250 community leaders to challenge Moses' and Aaron's authority.
