Exodus 20:8-11 KJV
(8) Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.
(9) Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work:
(10) But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates:
(11) For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.
Revelation 14:7 KJV
(7) Saying with a loud voice, Fear God, and give glory to him; for the hour of his judgment is come: and worship him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters.

the phrasing of these two scriptures does not line up exactly...therefore one is not a direct quotation of the other...

the angel's message was not about keeping the sabbath...

By your opinion you are trying to make void the Law of God. The sabbath is one of the commandments. If we know the 7th day is the sabbath of the Lord and do not keep it then the Bible says it is sin.

1 John 3:4 KJV
(4) Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.

this is another good example of sabbath keepers being legalistic and trying to impose their observance on others...

going to a synagogue and spending the day trying to reason with jews doesn't sound very restful to me...

"reason with jews doesn't sound very restful to me."
The dirty little secret is out; antisemitism. There are Christian churches that keep the Sabbath. Also, the Messianic Jews accept Jesus, and keep the Sabbath. Surely we can reason with the Messianic Jews. After all the first church was the Messianic Jews, (the Church in Jerusalem, led by Peter). But, if we want to place all the blame, for the crucifixion of our Lord on the Jews, perhaps we can't reason with them.

i was commenting on the verses from acts that were posted...

paul went to the synagogues to preach to unbelieving jews...trying to convert them by reasoning with them from the scriptures...

and i was pointing out that debating the scriptures with jews doesn't seem to be the most restful way of spending the sabbath...and the sabbath is supposedly kept by -resting-

carey:

Are you aware of Christ's own attitude towards the Jewish Sabbath?

this is another good example of sabbath keepers being legalistic and trying to impose their observance on others...

*[[Mat 19:17]] KJV* And he said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments.

Would you call Jesus a legalist? According to your post you would.

1 John 3:4 KJV

Sabbath keepers, who try to obey Gods commands, are not trying to "impose their observance on others". Sabbath keeping is an observance established by God the Father, and a commandment that our Lord Jesus observed. We all have the choice whether or not to keep Gods commandments, but if we want to keep the first and most important command of our Lord Jesus; "love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind", we must keep Gods commandments.
"For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments"

do everyone a favor and quote the next verse where jesus specifies which commandments he is talking about...

Romans 14 does not even mention the sabbath of the Lord.
the questions the roman christians had was about the sabbath food and drink.Paul answered that in Romans 14.If you don't agree ,what one day was Paul talking about?

actually they are trying to impose their observance on others...here you are attempting to do so through a guilt trip...'sabbath keepers try to obey God's commands'...with the unwritten insinuation 'and the rest of you do not'...

you might be able to convince me that the majority of sabbath keepers are not insidious legalists if you could get them all to affirm the statement that 'non sabbath keepers are just as obedient as sabbath keepers' based on what paul taught in romans 14:5-6

@Rachel

Why are you so against keeping the Sabbath? How is it possible that keeping the Sabbath is legalistic? Do you honestly see one full day in worshipping God as legalistic? Reading your word, praying, seperating yourself for His pleasure? I'm sorry I just don't see how spending one complete day with my saviour is legalistic
and please back up your position with scriptures not just opinion
thanks

Nowhere in the bible does it state that saturday is the sabbath. It says the seventh day. And how do I make void the law? For even priests profane the sabbath and yet are blameless.

That is your opinion but it does line up. Many quotes in the Book of Revelation come from the OT, this quote comes from the sabbath commandment as shown.

Which day is the 7th day?

i am not against it...i just don't do it...and i don't appreciate anyone trying to impose it on me...

[h=3]Matthew 19:18-19[/h]King James Version (KJV)

[SUP]18 [/SUP]He saith unto him, Which? Jesus said, Thou shalt do no murder, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness,
[SUP]19 [/SUP]Honour thy father and thy mother: and, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

Having other gods is not mentioned does that mean it is now ok? Idol worship is not mentioned does that mean it is now OK. According to how you interpret it yes.
