does anyone here know or find out what tongue they have been given
Is it always one tongue or do some people have more than one?

Only those whove been given this spiritual gift need answer. thanks

There are so many tongues in the world today.

What was the purpose of tongues in the early church? Why were those believers able to speak other known languages?

The same as the purpose for tongues is today. It edifies the believer (1 Cor 14:4), the person who does it is magnifying God (Acts 2:11; 10:46), and giving thanks well (1 Cor 14:17), and when tongues are spoken and interpreted in the church, the church is edified (1 Cor 14:5).

They spoke the languages they were given to speak. Just like today. There is no guarantee that the language you speak in a tongue will be understood by anyone else present, which is why Paul said tongues, when spoken aloud in the church, must be interpreted.

It's easy to find videos of people misusing and abusing speaking in tongues. Those are the ones the devil promotes, the ones that scare people away from it.

I enjoy some of what Breaker preaches, but he's completely off base when it comes to speaking in tongues.

According to Apostle John's Disciple, Papias, there would be a Tongue that every language could recognize.


so, lets do a Mathematical Problem here and use our minds.

How MANY Human Languages are there?

7,000 languages!

if God USED Tongues for other Languaged people, and there are 7,000 known Languages...do we think 7,000 Languages was spoken in Book of Acts?

Impossible!

TONGUES continues for the 7,000 Languages!


We have yet to witness to 7,000 kinds of people, let alone Speak in Tongues enough times 7,000 known Languages will be contacted by God!

no way, the 12 Apostles accomplished this.
 
nah, i've provided so much true writings from Tertullian and Church Fathers claiming well into the 5th Century they were still Preaching like Peter, the Spirit fell on people, and evidence of being Saved was Still Speaking in Tongues.

but, we also have a Catholic history + the protestants who tried to Stop Speaking in Tongues.

combine the TWO, IMPOSSIBLE, that 7,000 Languages, have been contacted by way of Speaking in Tongues since the Upper Room less than 2,000 years ago.

IMPOSSIBLE!!

yes, I know of a few, and in case it served to prove to a person/persons the validity of this gift.:)

I'm standing, in faith, I am walking in faith, I believe in Jesus, the power of the holy spirit, I believe in the hole word of GOD he's ways are not our ways, you want to walk in un belief, walk in fear, walk in doubt then this is your choice, I'm going to believe God, walk in peace joy, love, and save the lost and the hurting,

I know you'll find this very hard to believe (most Charismatics do), but you're not walking in faith; you're trusting in your own mind.
 
If you do your own research, you will discover in the Catholic Archives, a section of notes where the Catholic Church formed Posse's and these groups went all over the known world looking for people Speaking in Tongues to force them to stop.

The RCC, worshipers of Satan himself, voted amongst their Demonic leadership to claim Speaking in Tongues was a Heresy Act.

Fag Men in women's clothing voting to decide the fate of Speaking in Tongues.

Anyway, every time I meet a Cessationist, I think of the Demonic Fag Men who did their queer best to stop God's Gift of Tongues. And then I remember, God didn't restore this Movement because He never ended it, Satan, and his minions have been trying to end it for the past 1,400 years now.

And it's stronger now than ever before.

Since the fall in Genesis he has continued His plan to redeem his creation, to the point true believers are now indwelt with Holy Spirit as opposed to him coming in the cool of the evening to commune with His own.
