Do you fast? How do you that? just stop eating?
Your advices will be very appreciated because i dont have idea :o

From time to time. How depends upon the situation. Sometimes food. Sometimes another type of personal sacrifice. The problem with doing food is that other people usually find out about it and I like to keep it just between me and God.

Yes, it can. Look at Samson and the Nazarites, they fasted cutting their hair. John the Baptist fasted regarding the type of clothing he wore. I have even fasted things like makeup and jewelry. Subtle things that most people wouldn't notice, but God knows. I don't eat much anyway, so food isn't that much of a sacrifice for me.

Daniel's fast is pretty cool too.

Yes, just as julieannie says, lizzietheone, you can fast most anything, so, for you pick your favorite food and see what happens when you pray to God for something and fast. God will remember this act, I just know He will :)

So , for 24 hours, no more churros for you, mizz lizzie :D

However, it is good to drink water when you fast , and, some, depends on your healylth, include fruit juice too. Just no food.

Daniel's fast , julieannie?

Curious . What was that?

I know he was eating healthy food when nebachenezer royalty eating fatty foods or something like that but what was Dan's fast is something i ask.
----
Alzó, i put this in 'i need encouragement' thread, but Jesus said that some demons inside people can only come out of them by 'prayer and fasting.'

So , fasting is indeed a powerful way to do.things to commune and draw closer to God in your life :)

This 30 hour famine link below is a website that has a program you can get materials free from and set up your own time of fasting, from World Vision, if anyone interested. :)

Green, This is Daniel’s fast. It is extremely healthy and cleansing for the body, both spiritually and physically. If you google it, you can find a lot of websites about it. J

Daniel 1

Daniel’s Training in Babylon

1 In the third year of the reign of Jehoiakim king of Judah, Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came to Jerusalem and besieged it. 2 And the Lord delivered Jehoiakim king of Judah into his hand, along with some of the articles from the temple of God. These he carried off to the temple of his god in Babylonia[a] and put in the treasure house of his god.
3 Then the king ordered Ashpenaz, chief of his court officials, to bring into the king’s service some of the Israelites from the royal family and the nobility— 4 young men without any physical defect, handsome, showing aptitude for every kind of learning, well informed, quick to understand, and qualified to serve in the king’s palace. He was to teach them the language and literature of the Babylonians.[b] 5 The king assigned them a daily amount of food and wine from the king’s table. They were to be trained for three years, and after that they were to enter the king’s service.
6 Among those who were chosen were some from Judah: Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael and Azariah. 7 The chief official gave them new names: to Daniel, the name Belteshazzar; to Hananiah, Shadrach; to Mishael, Meshach; and to Azariah, Abednego.
8 But Daniel resolved not to defile himself with the royal food and wine, and he asked the chief official for permission not to defile himself this way. 9 Now God had caused the official to show favor and compassion to Daniel, 10 but the official told Daniel, “I am afraid of my lord the king, who has assigned your[c] food and drink. Why should he see you looking worse than the other young men your age? The king would then have my head because of you.”
11 Daniel then said to the guard whom the chief official had appointed over Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael and Azariah, 12 “Please test your servants for ten days: Give us nothing but vegetables to eat and water to drink. 13 Then compare our appearance with that of the young men who eat the royal food, and treat your servants in accordance with what you see.” 14 So he agreed to this and tested them for ten days.
15 At the end of the ten days they looked healthier and better nourished than any of the young men who ate the royal food. 16 So the guard took away their choice food and the wine they were to drink and gave them vegetables instead.
17 To these four young men God gave knowledge and understanding of all kinds of literature and learning. And Daniel could understand visions and dreams of all kinds.
18 At the end of the time set by the king to bring them into his service, the chief official presented them to Nebuchadnezzar. 19 The king talked with them, and he found none equal to Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael and Azariah; so they entered the king’s service. 20 In every matter of wisdom and understanding about which the king questioned them, he found them ten times better than all the magicians and enchanters in his whole kingdom.
21 And Daniel remained there until the first year of King Cyrus.

**taking notes in a notebook: no more churros......Daniel training**

thanks :)

Yes, yes, YES! I don't like other people to find out, either. And I can't just say "I'm not hungry", because it's a flat-out lie :D

But Liz, I think if God has put it on your heart to fast, He will likely put something on your mind to give up. It might be chocolate, it might be music...

what do you mean by chocolate PopClick? just kidding :D

thanks for the advice

LOL, lizzietheone.

))(((
BUT, ,that does bring up a valid point, when we FAST, do it so that utter humbling is experienced of something we really like GONE.

So a chocolate fast for you, lizzie, just may be a perfect thing for you to take from your life a day .

I , honestly, need to fast too, I need to think of something that I like a lot, and, then tell God it's gone for 24 hours. This is a good thing for me to think of.

God speaks of fasting for a reason, He is the same yesterday, today, and, forevermore, I have NO DOUBT that by fasting we will be 100% blessed from that experience. I have done it but not for the right reasons really I don't think. I don't know, I was doing it from requirements of work rather than for my own off-time doings. Fast for Him . :)

I personally try to fast something new each week. So in a sense, I am always giving up something I want. And I am a huge nerd about it. I actually have this big list of stuff that I like...and every Saturday I roll a dice, or use a random number generator or w/e to see what I am giving up for the next week. I have only had eating come up a couple times, and thankfully, never had internet or computer. Maybe that is just to keep me social.

You know, I have noticed a pattern actually. If I have a bad week or I have been sick or something...that is when the crap I really like comes up...and I always curse a little bit. But it actually helps me center myself.

But thanks, and God bless you too.

I can only imagine how many 'young men' disliked David after the 10 days of eating healthy food made them get their food switched from fatty foods to vegetables. I can really see the protective shield of God apply in this case :D

I think it is awesome how God talks to you through your fasting, I can see so how He can in soo many ways. I am going to see IF I can take that kind of step in my life. The Lord leads.

thx, saulD

I could not fast with food. I have blood sugar issues and it could mess with my vision and body.

I guess for me it would be giving up internet for a few days. But then again that would mean I'd have to be alone with my thoughts...*gulp*..

That's one of the reasons a lot of people use Daniel's fast, Relena; they especially eat the high protein stuff that's permissable. There's no limit to quantity or the number of meals so they can maintain their proper blood sugar levels.
