Before Uzziah, Amaziah was the king. Unfortunately, he apostatized of the faith and take Judah with him. Behold the three steps of the apostasy:
1 - they had despised the law of the LORD -> First, they stopped to hearing the word of the Creator. They didn’t concern about knowing the Holy Scripture more and more in order to fear the Creator (Deut 17:18,19) and know Him better (Hosea 6:3).
2 - they had not kept the Creator’s commandments -> This is a consequence of the disdain for the law of the Creator. Each one start to do what is fit to their eyes. But the worst comes next:
3 - their lies caused them to err, after the which their fathers have walked -> They start to believe in their own lies and live as if all of them were truth (Isa 5:20; Rom 1:25).
Today we live in a world that has changed the times and the law (Dan 7:25). Divorce has been considered normal, homosexuality has received encomiums and so on. It there is a burning fire in the mouth of people in the media (chiefly TVs) that has corrupted minds and hearts, burning their conscious (1Tim 4:2).
So, have a good day giving up on every evilness that is convenient so that you don’t dig up your own sepulcher.
