Is there anyone in your life who you can see yourself with, but things just aren't happening? Do you get offers for "dates" or whatever, but find yourself saying NO because that "certain someone" might show interest at some point? I see this happening in my life and it's a difficult situation. I just want to hear your stories! Not to get ideas, just to hear how it worked out for you.

Soooo much, I became a Christian 2 years ago today, back before then any person (within reason....) who showed interest was 'the one' ;|
It's more important how we relate to people as Christians, as no longer just looking in the short term......

As a Christian I've found myself saying no to great, but not right for me people.............it's quite bizzare. I think we 'know in our knower' as Mother Theresa said, when meeting 'the one'.......

We can trust God, He says it's not good for us to be alone. Of course some are called to be single, but He gives us the desire and equipping to do such things!

Love this song, until God's time, He's never late!!!

I've done that and I missed out on a great guy because I thought this other was the one and in the end I did get to date this guy but when we broke up I saw what I did and I prayed that I would never make that mistake again. This other guy is such an amazing guy and now he's not interested me because he's afraid I will always put him second.
I wish I knew then what I know now.
Oh crap I think I just scared this new guy off, we are having a discussion on FB about religion and stuff and now he won't respond because I told him something that I feel strongly about. Mormon guys are so prejudice. lol! Oh-well!
Good luck with everything.

As ritter said, im doing the same thing too and i dont see any harm in it either.

I've prayed for a long time that God give me clarity when it comes to guys. I do have a guy who I'm *waiting* for. Sometimes, I feel it's not worth it. When I get lonely or bored of my life and just want to date someone for something to do. The thing is, every other guy that comes about I know, deep down, that they are not who God has for me. I know this immediately and have zero doubts. (It makes it pretty easy to turn them down--haha). The guy I'm waiting for, however, has "god vibes" and I feel like there's a reason I'm waiting for him. Do I think he's "the one"? I have no idea. But there's something there that's worth waiting for. If someone else comes around who I get "god vibes" with, then I might reconsider... until then, I will be patient and see what God has in store for me and this one. Haha

This thread made me think...
I don't know if it's a bad or good thing to wait on someone. I think it would depend entirely on the people involved and the situation. I know if there is a certain girl that just seems to have everything I could ever want and more, other girls won't compare to her...so the others wouldn't interest me in that way. I'd want to at least stay open to getting to know others though. For me, anything would have to start out on a friendship level anyways.
I also think it's possible to wait around on someone who turns out to be totally wrong for you in the end...Maybe they seem amazing but the more you get to know them the more apparent it becomes they aren't the right person after all. In which case, maybe a person who was amazing could be missed due to hanging onto the idea of this other person. Ahh. I'm pretty sure I could think myself in circles on this one. haha. That's true for a lot of things though since I tend to see many sides to every situation..It's a blessing and curse.

No one ever finds real love without taking a chance though do they? So I will just say a prayer for all currently in the waiting room to make wise decisions.

I've often found myself thinking in the exact same circle, niceguyj. Nice to know I'm not alone in that either. :)

Why wait when you can hack their phone, hack their email and do background checks on the internet? Then you'll know for sure if they're the right one for you. Secretly attaching a GPS device under their car helps too.

I waited and waited... and waited for this one girl and she knew I was interested, but kept giving me mixed signals about whether she liked me or not. During that time there were girls who approached me and I turned them down because my stupid heart was stuck on this one girl. Well, she never did come around to liking me. In fact, she basically stopped being friends with me. I don't blame her because its my fault for being too weird and awkward around her.

So I definitely don't think its a good idea to wait. Its better to just go ahead and ask that person out and stop wasting your own precious time by waiting.

I agree it's OK to wait for someone who seems special, good things are worth the wait.
It's not a good idea to date other people if your heart is set on someone else, even if you are available, your heart isn't.

My only concern with waiting is it's very easy to romantiscise the whole situation and lose track of reality. While you're waiting it's so easy to focus on all the potentially wonderful things about the person in question and not really see them for all that they are, if that happens dissapointment usually follows, and frustration as well at having wasted time waiting for someone who never really lived up to the dream.

Every situation is different, but in some ways I think why not just confront the situation and find out what's there, and then move on happy in a relationship, or free of the question of what might have been.

Don't wait for anyone but the Lord.
No stories. I'm still waiting ;)

Isaiah 40:31

I think the first thing to do is always be active in church or at christian events.. be going, be trying different churches or maybe go to your church on Sunday or try another church who has church groups if yours doesn't. That way you're always out meeting and making christian friends. Then, if you're interested in somebody, you can let the meeting<friends<dating<going out<bf/gf<engaged<married process being going as far as your relationship goes..

Amen, Socialart, that is a pitch perfect place to have the Lord let you make a pitch (ask a girl out, or, just get to know her).

For the question, which is a good one, russiangal, I refer to a story for waiting for that 'someone.

A few years back I read one of those Chicken Soup For The Soul book stories, it was about...

A girl who met a squirrel and they agreed on a nuts' diet and went sailing but the tiny ship was tossed but they swam and swam, ashore, and, lived happily chipwrecked on a deserted island everafter---ALVIN!! , I mean, GREEN!! be serious!

Ok, a girl, in this Chicken Soup story , met a guy, they were young, in their 20s. The two hit it off like two birds in a bath playing but something happened, or, didn't happen , in this casé. He never asked her out and after a year of doing things together all the time, he treating her with full ladylike respect, he just disapeared off the face of the Earth until...

55 years later, luck would have it , or, fate, depending how you see it, this guy was walking down the hall with a cane in a nursing home, quité decrepit, and, who should he see was in the same home? Her.

Well, it's a tearful reunión, needless to say. Then, after exchanging pleasantries, he asks what she did in her life?
She talks about her job, her two kids, her 6 dogs, etc.

Guy: What about a guy? You had kids, did you--(girl interrupts) 'oh no, I never married. I just never clubes anyone like.........'

--

Well, I guess YOU can guess her final word as they both REALLY cried as he said NEXT: 'I never knew. I lived you.'

--
The moral of the story is Who Knew . Get it, that phrase, Who-- ah , forget it. Anyway, I just tell this story for one reason: Let the Lord know your life. And, THIS will never happen to you. :)
