Do you wish folk luck?

This might seem like a trivial issue, but I've been in churches and a Christian environment all my life, and it was always the kind that didn't take the Lord's name in vain. But I never remember any Christians avoiding wishing people luck. On the other hand, how would you notice someone not saying something, right? I also can't recall the last time I heard someone in my Christian subculture wishing someone luck.
Well, recently an Evangelical I met on here from a very nonanglo-saxon culture told me that she avoids wishing people luck. Only then, after about 35 years of speech, did I realize that maybe I'm making my fellow Christians uncomfortable by wishing people luck!
Just so we're clear on this, when I do, I don't think that I'm really changing someone luck. All I'm really doing is wishing someone well. (Unless I'm being sarcastic, then I'm saying that they haven't got a chance)
 
well, I think that would depend on the sityation. I sometimes wish people luck to show that I care about what happens to them, but if it is something very important I\ll rather offer o pray for them (whether they are Christian or not)

I think people will often use words for the meaning people connect with them rather than what they "mean", like you said: it isn't about actulay changing someones "Luck", it is about wishing them well
 
I guess I might still be doing that but I try to say God bless instead. If you credit good things to luck, that is just luck. if you say God bless, you give glory to God for good things that would happen to them.

Well said. To God be the glory. Everything good thing comes from Him and Him alone.

LOL How did I know you'd be comin' round the bend Blain.

I don't mind either, fantastic discourse over a subject matter that we can all learn something from, irrespective of dates, members and non members alike.
