Do you yearn for meeting Jesus? If yes, “for what” or “for how long”?
• “And you, Solomon my son, know the God of your father and serve Him with a perfect heart and with a willing mind. For Jehovah searches all hearts and understands all the imaginations of the thoughts. *If you seek Him, He will be found by you*. But if you forsake Him, He will cast you off forever.” (1Ch 28:9).
Observe that the verse didn’t say “If you seek Him, *He will find you*” or “If you seek Him, *you will find Him*”, but “If you seek Him, *He will be found by you*”. In other words, if you seek Him, He will let you find Him.
That is to say, we can’t, by our own efforts, to find the Creator, as you can see below:
• “All things are delivered to Me by My Father. And no one knows the Son except the Father. Nor does anyone know the Father except the Son, and the one to whom the Son will reveal Him.” (Mat 11:27);
• “No one can come to Me unless the Father who has sent Me draw him, and I will raise him up at the last day. It is written in the Prophets, "And they shall all be taught of God." Therefore everyone who hears and learns from the Father comes to Me.” (Joh 6:44,45).
Nevertheless, although He can manifest Himself to someone, usually it isn’t thus that He procedures. He allow to be found. It comes, then, the question: do we really pine for meeting Him? As Jesus said:
• “And as they departed, Jesus began to say to the crowds concerning John, What did you go out into the wilderness to see? A reed shaken with the wind? But what did you go out to see? A man clothed in soft clothing? Behold, they who wear soft clothing are in kings' houses. But what did you go out to see?...” (Mat 11:7-9).
Many people go to the temples, alleging that they are doing so because they wish to meet the Creator. They reach to the point of cadging the Creator to come and speak with them. But the question stays:
• “What did we go out to see?”
• “What do we desire that Jesus should do for us?” (Luke 18:41), or, if you prefer,
• “What do we hope that Jesus makes for us?
Many times we didn’t find the Creator because, in our innermost being, we didn’t ache for finding Him, but only His blessings. Although the Creator can manifest as He prefers, most of the times He will come to us in a form of a problem.
See, for instance, the case of the widow of Zarephath. The Creator came to her in the form of a hungry and thirsty man (1Kings 17:10-12).
Furthermore, Jesus was clear:
• “Then He also shall say to those on the left hand, Depart from Me, you cursed, into everlasting fire prepared for the Devil and his angels. For I was hungry, and you gave Me no food; I was thirsty, and you gave Me no drink; I was a stranger and you did not take Me in; I was naked, and you did not clothe Me; I was sick, and in prison, and you did not visit me. Then they will also answer Him, saying, Lord, when did we see You hungry, or thirsty, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister to You? Then He shall answer them, saying, Truly I say to you, Inasmuch as you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to Me. And these shall go away into everlasting punishment, but the righteous into everlasting life.” (Mat 25:41-46).
Not to mention that Jesus, the own Living God, came to us in the form of a humble and meek man, while Jews waited for a military man like David.
So, have a good weekend biding for the Creator as He really is, and not as we want that He comes to be.
