I don't have fake book, twitter, instagram, or any of that other ridiculousness..
I only have CC, which is indeed, depressing sometimes. :/

It's all about the numbers. They can show their advertisers that they have a gazillion members, and that makes the site more valuable. Facebook may have aided in the eventual demise of myspace. Though it was resurrected and reclaimed for its original purpose (music), they had about 90 forum categories. I was on myspace doing Christian apologetics for four years on their religion forum shortly after becoming Christian. What an education! Yowzers, the non-believers were brutal and quite profane, but I got used to it fairly quickly, I guess, as much as one can get used to such treatment.Yes, that is the creepiest part about the site.Once you have overshared and come to your senses - it is too late and you will always have an account floating out there in cyber space.
I used facebook to connect with family and share treasured photographs for an upcoming huge family reunion that I actually never attended because I chose to go to my mother's funeral earlier the same year instead. However, even in the short time I was there, I found it very disturbing how people I hardly even knew forty years ago now were wanting to friend me. What could I possibly share with those people? There are already too many demands on my timeAfter a certain incident, I shut down my page as much as possible and have not been back since, for the greater part of a decade. Because, you know, you can check out any time you like, but you can never leave

You need to have that eye looked at.I find CC more depressing than FB. On FB I can control what I want to see, or not see. I've had very little problems with drama because I limit who I add. And those I do add, and feel obligated to keep, that I don't want to see, I just unfollow.
Come to CC and it's not uncommon for me to close it out feeling worse than before I opened it. Which is one reason I cut back so much compared to a few years ago.
Seems if FB is that much of a problem for you perhaps you need to reconsider who you add and follow.
I was going to post a link...but there were too many articles to choose from.
Just Goggle why Facebook makes people depressed.
Overall, FB will most likely make us feel one of two ways...
-Depressed. We see what others want us to see, their best moments, their best possessions, their best selfie angles...making us feel like we have nothing going on in our lives. It also leads to feeling like we've wasted our time sifting through...yes, FB. Most log on to interact with loved ones...but never actually do it.
- It ego boosts. People subconsciously search for those who don't have it as good as they do.
Social media seems to be like a drug. Its addictive. We roll the dice in the hopes that we will feel better, in the end, it makes us feel terrible. We know its bad and yet we keep on going back for more.
I actually like following my parents generation.
I have relatives that will post about how their teeth fell out as they were eating something. The pics they post aren't photoshopped or in certain cases, ...even flattering.
My generation seems to think that they are 'keeping it real'
When in realty...we do the complete opposite.

I used to tell my daughter (who will be 31 this summer) about some of the things people said to me, simply because I was a Christian, and she would wonder how I could stand it. Some of it seemed quite hilarious to me, though. Anyways, the thing is, myspace forums all went bye bye October 26, 2011. Though it is not likely facebook is going anywhere any time soon, I was simply trying to make the point that not everything is foreverSome sites are also set up to drop info after it gets so old, to save server space. Still, stuff could be there for a long time before it falls off the back end...

Maxwel should have said that...You need to have that eye looked at.
Maybe they are the same person with multiple personalities.Maxwel should have said that...
i heard a guy talk about this once....
he related a personal story of he and his wife taking their little kids to the park.
he said he and his wife bickered all day, the kids misbehaved all day, there was strife and tension all day.
at the end of their park time, they handed their camera to a stranger and asked him to take a family photo.
when they got home, he posted this one picture of them all smiling for the camera on FB and captioned it
"Great day at the park!"

i had to leave FB after a couple of years. even among Christians it seemed competitive, and there are just too many pictures of what people are eating.
Ive been rather surprised about all the drinking too. It seems every week there is a post
about someone having cocktails somewhere. I didn't realise the people I knew enjoyed
their alcohol so much. I'm surprised some of them even manage to stagger to church on
Sunday.
Thank youCan't rep you but this deserves a rep!Never knew all that about myspace and how it's a numbers game for companies! Interesting and informative post! Thank-you
Also, I am sorry that you had to endure abuse on myspace - but at least you came away with an education!![]()
