Rom 5:18

18 Therefore as by the offence of one judgment came upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life.

No by no means does Rom 5:18 teach that Christ died for all without exception, just because the word all is used. In fact, to the spiritually discerning it teaches the contrary, it teaches the limited atonement, or that Christ did not die for all men without exception, simply because the all men here that Justification of life came upon is limited to only some men, so the word all can only apply to all that received upon them Justification of life.

For its clear from other scripture that all men without exception are Justified before God, for instance Matt 5:45

45 That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.

Acts 24:15

And have hope toward God, which they themselves also allow, that there shall be a resurrection of the dead, both of the just and unjust.

1 Cor 6:1

Dare any of you, having a matter against another, go to law before the unjust, and not before the saints?

2 Pet 2:9

9 The Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished:

Rev 22:11

11 He that is unjust, let him be unjust still: and he which is filthy, let him be filthy still: and he that is righteous, let him be righteous still: and he that is holy, let him be holy still.

Now the word unjust does mean being found guilty before God, in Gods court of law,

describes being found guilty in God's court of law, i.e. as a binding, legal infraction against His law which calls for divine retribution,
unjust, unrighteous, wicked.of one who breaks God's laws, unrighteous, sinful,

So basically its one God reckons guilty before Him as a law beaker.

To those that chose, choose to not believe! I God, sent Son for you to reconcile you first in the one time willing death on a cross, will not be given new life in my risen Son's risen life for you! It is for everyone (1 John 2:1-2,12) to see All sin by my Son Jesus is now and forever forgiven and taken out of the way, (John 1:29, John 19:30) by his done work in his willing death once for everyone to believe it or not believe it. Then when you anyone, settles this in your own self, you believe me in my risen Son for you, you will see you by me in Son are reconciled, then if you ask sincerely for new life, I, God will give that to you, and you will have it, for you to appreciate and stand in belief to it to see it as so many Saints I, God have made whole before you, and now Love all, not a few as the heathen do. thank you love you deeply, widely and higher than anyone can truly know, yet it is so

It's a Verse that demonstrates the opposite of what Adam's sin did.

By 1 man and his sin ALL HUMANS are born as sinners.

Romans 5:18 means:
By 1 man and His Sacrifice now ALL HUMANS can be Saved.

In mathematics it X's out.

Jesus Sacrifice cancels Adam's sin for those who are Saved.

The Condition Adam bounded humanity by the Sacrifice of Jesus unbounds humanity.

Jesus cancels out Adam is what Romans 5:18 means.

Romans 5:18 Therefore as by the offence of one judgment came upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life.

The words "all men" are translated from the Greek words pantas anthrōpos ... meaning "all men" ... all descendants of Adam.

God tells us even so by the righteousness of one the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life. Those are God's Words.

The free gift is the Lord Jesus Christ ... justification of life is the result of faith in Him. Those who reject the free gift do not have justification of life.

Does Rom 5:18 teach that Christ died for all men without exception ?2 However this cannot be the case for them in Rom 5:18b wherein the declaration of scripture is

18 Therefore as by the offence of one judgment came upon all men to condemnation; even so/in this manner by the righteousness of one the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life.

Now the word Justification here is the greek word : dikaiósis and means:

acquittal, justifying, justification, a process of absolution.

It declares the acquittal of the penalty and guilt of sin, released from the deserved penalty of death, and why is this so ?

Well the verse tells us so, by or because of one act of righteousness, that one being Jesus Christ, which act of righteousness does include His One act of obedience unto death as in Vs 19; So its that One act of suretyship obedience alone, that all men, by a free gift of Gods grace, are given by imputation, Justification of life ! This is not an offer of Justification, no more than the opposite with adam was an offer of condemnation. So since we know that some men are under condemnation Jn 3:18; 1 Cor 11:32, which means they cant be part of the all men referred to in Rom 5:18b, hence limited atonement is affirmed by Rom 5:18 !

It has nothing to do with men choosing anything
Therefore everyone is a puppet, controlled by a master. Sound like Evil that began at Adam and Eve, when ate from that tree to be God, know as much as God and be independent form God
That is not the God I have come to know, that overcame evil in love to all to choose to believe God or not. If, believe and continue in belief, one, anyone, then gets set free with Father and Son as their lead and are safe, even while in troubles at hand.
Like Jesus said to Pontius Pilate, you have this control, because it is allowed by my Father for now. Then he died willingly and was, is risen forever for us all to believe it or not consciously, no one. has any excuse, when the last day happens
Thank you, love you too as God loves us all first 1 John 4:18-19

NET Romans 5:18 Consequently, just as condemnation for all people came through one transgression, so too through the one righteous act came righteousness leading to life for all people.

The comparative analogy "just as" doesn't work if we limit the "so too" clause.

NET Romans 5:17 For if, by the transgression of the one man, death reigned through the one, how much more will those who receive the abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness reign in life through the one, Jesus Christ!

Here's the conditional component - the receipt of abundant grace and the gift of righteousness. Receive literally means to take hold of, to grasp, to take possession of, to receive, and can mean to choose.

One Man's obedience made it available to all people Rom5:19. Not all will choose to receive it.

I think it's been @Kroogz who says something like it's available to all and it's there for the taking.

Some of the analogies I've read in these threads like reaching out to take hold of the life-preserver also come to mind.

The Shakespearian line, "hoist with his own petard" comes to mind in regard to this OP.

The all men in Rom 5:18 is restricted to the Justified.
And the justified is restricted to the all men,
but Romans 5:18 is just one pericope in Paul's Sermon on Salvation in Romans 1-11.
The context preceding that verse is as follows:

1. Romans 1:16 says the Gospel reveals that (s/e) is for “everyone who believes”, both Jew and Gentile.

2. Romans 1:17 describes s/e as “righteousness from God” that is by faith “from first to last” or from creation until the end.

3. Romans 2:4 teaches that God’s kindness or patience with sinners is meant to lead them toward repentance, which implies that sinners are able to repent because of God’s leading.

4. Romans 2:5 warns that those who do not repent but instead stubbornly resist God’s leading are storing up wrath against themselves for the day when God’s righteous judgment will be revealed, which implies that God enables sinners to repent–or not (cf. Deut. 30:19).

5. Romans 2:6 affirms what is called karma by saying that “God will give to each person according to what he has done”, which (in Gal. 6:7-9) is called reaping what a person sows.

6. Romans 2:7 speaks of the need for “persistence in doing good” and seeking glory, honor and immortality in order to receive s/e or eternal life, which echoes what Jesus commanded (in Matt. 7:7) and connects with the doctrine of perseverance (cf. Heb. 10:36 & Jam. 1:3-4).

7. Romans 2:11 teaches that “God does not show favoritism” (cf. Eph. 6:9, Col. 3:25, 1Pet. 1:17), which is how God judges people justly, so the fact that some sinners ignore God’s Gospel indicates that His will or leading is resistible because of MFW.

8. Romans 2:15 teaches that sinful souls have a conscience or awareness of “the requirements of the law”, which may be combined with Romans 1:20 to teach that God’s power and moral nature or will may be perceived via creation and conscience (called natural revelation), thus those unfamiliar with God’s Word in Scripture have no good reason for resisting divine leading and choosing atheism/evil.

9. Romans 3:20-21 states the law makes souls conscious of sin and that “the Law and Prophets testify” or prepare the way for the new revelation of righteousness from God apart from the Law, which takes up where Romans 1:17 left off.

10. Romans 3:22a says that “righteousness from God” or s/e comes through faith “in Jesus Christ” (cf. Eph. 2:8), a phrase Paul used eleven times in Ephesians 1:3-14 to indicate s/e.

11. Romans 3:22b says that God’s righteousness is given “to all who believe—there is no difference”” signifying that all sinners may believe or be s/e (cf. 1Tim. 2:3-4, John 3:16, Tit. 2:11), because there is no favoritism (#7).

12. Romans 3:23 teaches that “all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God”, meaning that no one can be good enough to earn salvation because of their own merit.

13. Romans 3:24 says sinners “are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus” (via faith per v.22, cf. 3:27-28); s/e is free because Christ paid the price/cost.

14. Romans 3:25a explains redemption as being “a sacrifice of atonement” for those who have faith in Christ’s work of dying in their place.

15. Romans 3:25b further explains that God demonstrated his just patience (#3) or forbearance in leaving unpunished those sins committed before the revealing of the Gospel (foreshadowed in Gen. 22:8 & 13), implying that sinners had/have the opportunity to believe and be s/e thereby demonstrating God’s justice/not showing favoritism (#11).

16. Romans 3:26 continues to emphasize divine justice by declaring it three ways (“justice…, just…, justifies”), which justness is synonymous with righteousness (2Thes. 1:5-6, Heb. 6:10).

17. Romans 4:1-25 presents Abraham as a Gentile who became the physical father of the Jews and the spiritual father of all who choose to have faith in God/Christ.

18. Romans 5:1 echoes Eph. 2:8 by describing s/e as justification through faith, Eph. 1:5 & 7 by using the phrase “through Jesus Christ”, and Eph. 2:14 by describing s/e as having peace with God.

19. Romans 5:2 & 5 also echo Eph. 2:18 & 3:1 by describing s/e as having access to God’s grace via the Holy Spirit.

20. Romans 5:6-10 states that God’s love (cf. kindness in #3) for the ungodly, for sinners and for His enemies is demonstrated by Christ dying for their s/e or justification/reconciliation.

21. Romans 5:12-21 describes s/e in corporate terms, saying that–like the first man–all (many?) men also sinned and died, and God’s grace comes to all (many?) because of Jesus Christ.

Believe God, receive truth from God and continue belief to God and be set free from under Law Col 1, 2
Oh, and then get accused of not doing as Paul got accused of taking grace for granted and sinned all the more, reported in

Authorized (King James) Version

2 Cor 10:1-6 read the entire Chapter please

10 Now I Paul myself beseech you by the meekness and gentleness of Christ, who in presence am base among you, but being absent am bold toward you: 2 but I beseech you, that I may not be bold when I am present with that confidence, wherewith I think to be bold against some, which think of us as if we walked according to the flesh. 3 For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: 4 (for the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) 5 casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ; 6 and having in a readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled.

Is anyone's obedience fulfilled, has anyone else been perfect as Son was and is for ever as risen for us all to beleive and stand in? Col1 :21-23

rolleyes ... if the "all men in Rom 5:18 is restricted to the Justified", you've got the descendants of Adam who are not Justified under no condemnation from which they need justification.

All men means all men ... all descendants of Adam.

The efficacy of the righteousness of the One (the Lord Jesus Christ) is sufficient to cover all men ... all who have been born from time of Adam to the present time as well as future generations. There is no limit to the righteousness of the Lord Jesus Christ. His righteousness is sufficient ... He is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world (1 John 2:2).

His righteousness is imputed to those who believe on Him that raised up Jesus our Lord from the dead (Rom 4:21-24), and those who believe are justified by faith (Rom 5:1).

So since we know that some men are under condemnation Jn 3:18
According to John 3:18, the only reason "some men are under condemnation" is because they have not believed in the Lord Jesus Christ.

John 3:17-18 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

I don't see how he didn't die for all men in what you posted, the mere fact it literally says so should be enough. when I read his word I often ask myself as to not add any personal interpretation is that what it says? or I imagine Jesus and him asking is that what I said?
